It's obvious Foglesong will always be thought of as a martyr. "He held the faculty accountable and they hated being made to work so they got him fired over some flowers." That's the way you'll repeat it to your kids one day.

You can't run a University like you run a McDonalds. The people that work for you know more than you do about their areas of expertise, and you can't impost your idiotic views on them without causing problems. Intellectual freedom may not exist in the military, but it exists at institutions of higher learning and a president of a university needs to understand that he/she doesn't know everything about everything.
