Is he waiting until spring? I’ve read where it’s between duke and uk but also saw there may be others in the mix. I’m thrilled with the 22 class so far and I think it’s gonna get better. Lively though at this point seems to be the player who would put the class over the top and really put a big time contender on the court. The duo of Livingston and sharpe are big time but adding a top 2-3 recruit who is 7’ well we re not gonna find anyone better on the transfer market and from what I gather about Bona he is raw.

Springtime, to make sure he gets the mansion cleaned and updated before committing.
But, I think Cal will go hard to get him but after we secure Bona, then sell Lively on playing the 4.

Need to get Wallace onboard and the draw of the potential UK super team might help land him. Just an opinion, nothing more.
I know some aren’t as excited with Skyy but it does seem like he has said he would try and get these other elite guys to play with him and it working so far with the staff dealing the deal. I hope we get Wallace and Bona sealed and then try like you said get Lively sold on the Fab 5 aspect. I don’t think you gamble losing Bona and go into the spring waiting on Lively though.

I agree completely. We have lost out on a lot of recruits that we deciding to wait in whole others that were interested in us went ahead and signed while we’re waiting on that one guy. I say sign bona if possible and if we get lively great. If we don’t weee good anyway.
Fab 5? You mean Fab 6. Clark, Sharpe, Livingston, Wallace, Bona, and Lively (in a perfect world signing all of them). I do not think we get all 6, the first 4 and either Bona / Lively, with Bona being the most likely. And that is just fine by me, we will have plenty of talent with those 5 and returning players from this years team. We have a nice group of 4/5s this year and a couple SHOULD be back next year, especially with NIL helping out with the guys projecting as late 1st / 2nd round draft status.
Because his high level of physical development far exceeds Lively and, probably, a returning Collins and Toppin, Bona is just the ticket for a necessary inside presence in my opinion. Given the current profile for foul magnet Tshiebwe, Bona might help ensure the strength and tenacity required for reliable rebounding and post defense in the SEC next year. Moreover, Bona can swat them with the best of them.
I believe that Lively will be deterred by no man if he likes what Cal has to offer, including the nearly unlimited NIL riches of a second Fab 5. Cal could even argue with a straight face that Lively has the guard-like skills to take his turn on the perimeter. It's a no brainer to recruit him as hard as possible and recognize that Duke is quite far behind UK when it comes to assembling a topflight '22 recruiting class.
There is no doubt in my mind that Wallace is also a missing piece for his full panoply of offensive and defensive skills and athleticism. Few would argue against the belief that he may be ahead of Clark in his overall promise and development. It may be that Clark's shooting will win him playing time. Of course, there's always injuries, too.
I am disappointed when anyone transfers out. In this case each added recruit after the current set of three will probably require just that, I believe. I may be underestimating the number of current guys who will be able to get to the league and I am certainly unwilling to indicate now that any specific guy should leave without this season playing out. Coach Cal may even decide that returning guys really can rise to PG occasion next year and ask Wallace to wait for spring. My limited knowledge and experience in the realm of what Cal does, leads me to believe that I would go FMJ at Wallace.

But I think we get ONE of Lively / Bona, I just do not see getting both, just like we cut ties with Smith JR. and honed in on Cason Wallace, it was a either/ or situation. I think it is the same with those 2. I just hope Cal doesn't try to slow play Bona hoping to get Lively and end up not getting either. Take the sure thing, then hope Lively joins him. Either way, it will be a historic class, but take the sure thing and not get too greedy at this point. No need to, Lively will not decide until spring, get Bona NOW, then put the full court press on Lively and hope we get him. Under NO circumstance do you risk losing both, get at least ONE of the two. If history repeats itself, I got a feeling Cal will swing for the homerun, if so, I hope it doesn't come back to bite us passing on Bona. Keep on full courting Wallace, get him locked down, then WORST case outcome, adding Bona and you have 5 top notch guys, at that point, Lively is very rich icing on the cake. But get the caked baked, then add the icing on top.

Probably looking at being done with the ‘22 class this Fall. Get Wallace and Lively or Bona (it’s looking like Bona) and concentrate on getting guys back and supplement with the transfer portal this Spring and Summer.

It kinda is really. I mean is cal back or is it back to 2.0 cal who can’t win a recruiting battle with duke? Either we eat first or duke eats whenever they want. Beating out a broken Arizona program and some other Tennessee st aren’t really recruiting battles. It’s nice that these guys want UK and there’s no competition for them but the guys where there is high competition I.e Memphis and duke well they are handing it to us on the head to heads.

What’s it matter the class if we are still losing out to duke? If we are second to duke? Honestly? If you demand excellence you won’t be satisfied at this point. You think our coaches think like you? Oh well we re satisfied with what we get??? And let me ask you. When is the last time we made a serious run with out an elite big man? Bona is 10-33 ranking he’s a multi year guy. We ve had great guards cal needs an elite in the paint to win a title.

But even then, it’s not devastating. The transfer portal has changed everything. You can get quality experienced players to replace elite 5-stars instead of having to drop down and get next tier HS players. That is a game-changer in recruiting. Cal basically has a safety net now. Miss on a OAD 5-star, get a proven college player. We should be thankful for this rule change, it’s going to help us a great deal.

Duke would trade 2 of their commits for Sharpe right now and as for the Memphis side, we made them give up on recruiting Livingston when we put the full press on him. We are about to have a class coming in that EVERY school would trade us for, with our without Lively. And in about 30ish hours it might all be a moot point either way. I just enjoy UK basketball all year around. I don't sit around upset about things that haven't even happened yet.
