When do the lopsided officiating threads return?

Refs give good teams the benefit of the doubt. And we're good now. I remember reading about the umpire Ron Luciano. A rookie catcher was catching and Rod Carew was batting. Luciano called a pitch down the middle a ball. The catcher complained and Luciano said, "Mr Carew will let you know if it's a strike"

Looked like your guys (deservedly) got most of the calls Sunday. Illinois coach Underwood didn't complain about — basically just said his guys fouled too much. Your team has a couple of guys who are good slashers to the hoop, which usually draws a lot of fouls. Also, guys with good defensive position probably get called for blocking more than they should.

We definitely got away with a bunch of favorable calls vs. Illinois - had a couple where I raised my eyebrows and said "wow... okay...." when no whistle was blown. Illinois got away with some, too, but I think we came out ahead overall.

Eh, it’s standard home cooking in the big ten. It’s annoying when you’re the road team but you get it back when you’re at home.

The early Myles double foul sit whole first half could change the entire OSU game

I think it was more than obvious the home teams for the calls in the BIG last season. I thought that held true to some extent in the last two games. The announcer talked about it as a former player and coach saying when the crowd gets into it they alter some calls. He said refs are only human. Not sure why it still happened in the MD and Illinois games but I thought our guys did a great job playing through it against MD.

Excellent post. Refs sometimes are bad or are biased.. some refuse to admit that.. and sometimes people blame refs too much... And sometimes people pointing out ref issues are correct. Any Rutgers fan from.Big East days knows what seeing Higgins, Burr or Valentine meant. Vs Illinois there was a time in the 2nd where they had 9 fouls to our 3.. and you just knew the refs would work to even things up a little before Illinois started intentionally fouling.

You're now in the position where fans of teams you beat will whine about officiating rather than give your team credit. Take heed...

It’s like the head of Big Ten officiating tells the basketball refs to call 2 for the home team for 1 away every game. I’d honestly rather it be even than this. Every game, it’s 5-1 fouls for the away team, at UMD it was 7-0 against us at one point, then we get the calls at home, now the first half it was 6-2 at one point against us. Unreal and very frustrating every away game

Terrible job by the officials at Ohio State. We were out coached today too. Hard to compete without Myles, Jacob, and Cliff. In the WCTC post game show, they said it was Pikiell’s first technical in 400 games.

This aged like milk 😂.

Road officiating in the big ten. Everyone gets victimized by it. It sucks but it’s consistent 🤷🏻‍♂️

BS we were not out coached. We were up 16 in the second half. Had a 10+ point lead most of game until refs had enough. Myles getting jobbed and then the refs calling nothing on our end with JY getting thrown to the floor can’t just say “well they need to just play” b-ball is a mental game and the refs totally took us out of it! We couldn’t play defense at all because the entire team would be fouled out

We are good! We are playing a Top 20 team on the road and we were jobbed. Myles deserves respect.

There is a thread that goes into detail about the coaching. We love Pikiell and his staff, but tonight was not a shining moment.
