ISha’s been able to recognize and reel in some types like Bediako and Payne, so guessing something along those lines from those types of places.
to paraphrase Carino I fear we have more reason to mope than hope. I'm thinking we have spent little so far of the reported $8 millionSha’s been able to recognize and reel in some types like Bediako and Payne, so guessing something along those lines from those types of places.
It’s pretty obvious, that his preference for a center is someone that can rebound and/or block shots. We just can’t afford a center that has any offensive ability to go along with that.Sha’s been able to recognize and reel in some types like Bediako and Payne, so guessing something along those lines from those types of places.
That’s what he needs at the position to play his pressure switching defense; you need an anchor in the back to compensate for the aggressiveness in the front. It’s pretty obvious, that his preference for a center is someone that can rebound and/or block shots. We just can’t afford a center that has any offensive ability to go along with that.
We could do a lot worse than Payne IMO. He was good on the glass and defensively for much of the year. Please not another payne
My guess is we spent more than double on the 3 you mentioned when combined. We should have a lot of money left. 500-750k each for WilcherJones & Thomas? I can’t see paying more for them.
You would be correct. My guess is we spent more than double on the 3 you mentioned when combined.
The market is just up for players. Absolutely crazy.Sha gave Payne 700k, now it comes out Dar made the 4th most on the team.
If he paid 7figures for Thomas/Jones/Wilcher he needs his head examined. I thought this GM was supposed to help with NIL
I cede my position to Catholicman. This board and SHU fans need a solid big to commit soon or folks will be jumping overboard. We are who we are. It does not appear that things are changing at SHU even with a GM in place.
At this point it appears that Piratz will play the 4, SPK will be our undersized center and Dehere will be the three at 5-9 but I heard he plays bigger than his height. I'll continue as waterboy but I'm ready to go if needed. All come at a home team discount. Fishjam is taking over at GM. Seton 75 will take the priests role because our priest wanted too much in NIL.
I like it, make it happen.I would love to get a commitment from Josiah Parker, then have him help us recruit his former teammate from FAU, Devin Williams, to help "save" us. I just think with what we've already likely spent in NIL on the first five players we've gotten (and Trey Parker), even that might be too big of a swing and still enable us to get five more deep bench players.
Payne was not a legit center. He was a skinny 6'9" forward forced to play center. He had some good games and some very bad games.Crazy how people here under value Payne's contribution to this past year's team. Having two legit centers on an undersized team was a big reason why we improved so much from 24-25.
Yes he was an undersized center, but he's not a forward since he can't shoot beyond 2 feet away from the basket.Payne was not a legit center. He was a skinny 6'9" forward forced to play center. He had some good games and some very bad games.
If you have and are willing to spend for transfers. Maybe it opens up a lesser paid market for true freshman. You don’t want/need hs kids in today’s college basketball. Sad
There's actually a good argument to be made that says we are actually better off in the portal world than we were without it based on our previous HS recruiting results. We just need to figure out how to hold on to our top talent. It's NIL that's killing usEveryone is looking at the transfer portal but in days past we would land 3 and 2 star high school players who would be developed into productive kids on the court. This can still be a source to fill out the roster if you land the right kids who are being overlooked by schools buying experienced talent instead.
I didn’t see any athleticism to suggest he was a forward on this level. He was a center after watching him play. A bit undersized in height, maybe. Regardless he wasn’t skilled enough but he was a helpful backup center IMO.Payne was not a legit center. He was a skinny 6'9" forward forced to play center. He had some good games and some very bad games.
If I had a nickel for every time @shu67 mentioned Mbaye, I'd have a jet on 24-hour standbyEven Mbaye may be getting a million! And looking at where college BB is at it would not surprise me. In fact if Mbaye was on some other BE team this past season and Sha brought him in you would be very happy to have a 7'2" center on the roster!
That's funny,,,you can park it in the same Hanger with Hines' jet at TeterboroIf I had a nickel for every time @shu67 mentioned Mbaye, I'd have a jet on 24-hour standby
The original poster said more than double 500-750 (which is 1Mil-1.5) combined for all three. So you're saying we got all three of Wilcher, Jones, and Thomas for around 2 million combined? You would be correct.
And the worst hands youve ever seenWe could do a lot worse than Payne IMO. He was good on the glass and defensively for much of the year.
I guess you never saw Bayonne Taty and Jacky Kaba? And the worst hands youve ever seen
Can you imagine how many assists Sha would have if he played with guys who could catch the ball?I guess you never saw Bayonne Taty and Jacky Kaba?
The post I was responding to said this:The original poster said more than double 500-750 (which is 1Mil-1.5) combined for all three. So you're saying we got all three of Wilcher, Jones, and Thomas for around 2 million combined?
For this economy that's actually not bad if Wilcher and Jones are expected to start and Thomas is a high percentage outside shooter.
