He’s probably in shock. I know most of them are. They got tapped out Friday night. They got out-coached. That big amazing facility doesn’t develop heart I reckon.
Do not count me in the shocked group. If anyone watched Owen run between the tackles on Mitchell they knew that would probably work and it did. On another note Mitchell has to figure out how to score. They have to be above 10 maybe 15 trips inside the 15 this year and came away with 0 points. Never seen nothing like it. This is not an excuse for Friday, Heritage bowed up and stopped them, more of a general observation.

And Still… Go Mountaineers

Hendersonville vs Mtn Heritage will be fascinating to watch. Has heritage defense really improved? We will find out this week.
I think the MH coaching staff had a tremendous gameplan at Mitchell and I think they will for Friday vs Hendo.

The reality is, MH will have no issues running the ball Friday night. Just need to contain and hold that Hendo offense for a drive or two. Easier said than done but I like the gameplan they have in place ;)

Are you saying Heritage will game plan the same way for Hendersonville as they did Mitchell.

Polk @ Avery- 28-27 Avery. Let it be known, Avery is not good. Thankfully for them, neither is Polk. Polk comes into this game fairing a little better on the overall eye test than Avery, but they do not have a road win this year. I think Avery is going to have a little bit of a bounce back game Friday night playing at home and this will be the worst team they have played in some time. After seeing Owen, Mountain Heritage and Hendersonville in consecutive weeks, Polk will look way less intimidating. Both teams have pitiful defenses and offenses they occasionally forget what a football is. However, when bad defenses meet, usually the offenses shine. Expect a competitive game with scoring from both sides and for the Vikings to pull out a narrow victory.

Mitchell @ Madison- 42-7 Mitchell. Mitchell comes off being shutout at home by their hated rivals and will be looking for some redemption. Madison is an excellent team to build some confidence against and let out some frustration. Unless something unexpected occurs, I do not foresee Mitchell playing with their QB1. All reports suggest he sustained a nasty concussion Friday night, and it would be wise to rest him this week. That is if he was even cleared to play Friday. Their QB2 however has shown the ability to move the ball successfully and will be more than enough to win comfortably at Madison.

Hendersonville @ Mountain Heritage- 23-21 Mountain Heritage. Similar to last week, I predict a narrow Cougar victory. However, this game is much different than last week. Last week the Cougars saw an old school grind it out offense that wanted to punch you in the mouth. This week will be an athletic spread offense that throws the ball and has speed at every position. In years past, the Mountain Heritage pass defense has been pretty terrible and I do not believe much has changed this year. However, Hendersonville has a bad habit of sleepwalking through some games for whatever reason, especially on the road. I predict they will come into Burnsville Friday night and not lay an egg, but also not be on their best. The Bearcats are a difficult team to predict, because their best is better than everyone else's best. However, they have a low floor and when they are off, they are really off. I predict the Cougars will run the ball, drain the clock and limit possessions. Hendersonville will score when they have the ball, but will they have the ball enough to win? That is the question and we shall find out Friday as this game most likely decides the WHC champion.

Owen- Bye. After a blowout victory against the Patriots, Owen will be on a bye and prepare for their senior night as they host Mountain Heritage in their final game of the regular season. Note this as a potential trap game for the Cougars, stay tuned for that next week.

Bengals4Life- Also on Bye. There has been major speculation as to his whereabouts, and I suspect he has taken an Aaron Rodgers Darkness Retreat somewhere in the Mitchell County Mountains. Expect him to take a break from the forum business as he recovers from a crushing defeat by the hands of the Cougars. He'll most likely return following the Mitchell thumping of Madison.

I appreciate your write ups very much. They're fun, but also well thought out. B4L is definitely going dark for a few days & understandably so. What happened was so unlikely Friday night to anyone who supports the purple team that I have no doubt there's some seriously upset folks out that way. That's not how you want your Senior night to go for that class. That's the group they've been super high on since middle school.

I'll take Avery over Polk. The Avery RB is underrated and their line should be able to handle Polk's. I'll take Mitchell over Madison in a running clock because I think Mitchell will finally wisen up and feature #14 more. To be honest, he's their best offensive player and I was quite surprised how little they used him this past Friday night. I'd want way more of him and way less of some of the other's they're giving the ball to.

Hendo/MH ... man, this is going to be a tough one to predict. The Cougs have some confidence coming in to this one and if the team I saw Friday night comes out to play at the Pit this Friday, i expect them to run tough and hard and make Hendo's defense stick their nose in there. I have nothing but respect for Jaron Ward. He's a great QB and a competitor and no way is he going to lay down, so we need to keep eyes on him and lay some hits on him when we can. If the boys come out and fight like they did this past Friday, i can see the Cougs taking the win. If the boys who played Pisgah/Erwin come out to play, then i see Hendo hanging a banner. Should be a great highschool football game!

If the Cougars control the line and limit Ward, the upset is absolutely possible.

Is it really an upset though? I mean Heritage is 6-2, at home and playing well. So would it be an upset. I get it, most will probably pick Hendersonville to win and I think they will too but I don't think it's an upset either if Heritage wins. Heritage is Heritage after all.

I do think this game is too much caught up in, the line play though. It matters absolutely. I just think a team like Hendersonville can neutralize Heritage's D line in certain ways. They can't play in a phone booth like they did with everyone on their schedule with the exception of Erwin. Just like yall say being physical is Hendersonville's Achilles, playing in space is Heritage's achilles. All teams have them for the most part. It's just about who can exploit them better. Game of the week for sure.

We drove to 3 yard line , qb knock out backup fumble next play. Hard score with backup qb .

Yes I am , I know wasn't my son's fault he pancake his man all night. Mitchell did not block 44,
Well they couldn’t. I watched Mitchell resort to some cut block techniques in the 2nd half that was wild. Got your biggest tackle and TE just throwing their backs and bodies at him 😂

I’ve never seen anything like it.

I hear you, but just because Heritage is 6-2 and playing at home doesn’t mean it can’t be an upset. I agree that Heritage can win, but Hendersonville didn’t get to this point by accident either. And that stuff about playing in space versus winning in the trenches sounds good on paper, but somebody still has to go out there and make it happen. Everybody has a weakness until the other team proves it can take advantage of it. I just think people are getting a little too comfortable assuming Heritage can do it. Friday night, we’ll find out who can back up the talk. 😂

Strengths are strengths as are weaknesses. Nobody knows what either team is going to do. They both present problems for each other. It's about executing and who makes the other team make mistakes.

Nobody said strengths and weaknesses don’t matter. That’s football 101. The difference is, some of us can actually break down a matchup instead of hiding behind “anything can happen” and calling it analysis. Of course, execution matters, that’s true in every game ever played. The real question is WHICH team can impose its will, exploit the other’s weaknesses, and sustain it for four quarters. If we’re just going to say both teams have strengths and weaknesses, we might as well save everybody the typing and just post the kickoff time

Comfortable assuming Heritage can do what? Run it on them? Heritage has ran it on everyone they've played this year. Did you watch the Hendo vs Mitchell and Owen film? Those teams carved them up in the run game. Had Mitchell not had some super costly turnovers in the redzone they could have easily been up 2+ scores to start that game. I take nothing away from Ward and his weapons. They're great players but they don't play OL and DL either.

Who is hiding? My point was about what you said which goes for both teams. All yall talk about in this Conference is line play. Both teams run the ball well. I merely said they both have strengths and weaknesses. What are they? Then once you figure that out, how do you attack and adjust. One team just runs more often and it the other looks different doing it.

Had Hendersonville not had penalties they would've scored 2 or 3 more times. Penalties and turnovers happen. Ward carved Mitchell up running and passing. They had no answer. It always goes both ways. We just tend to be one sided.
