This season is somewhat similar to 2014 (not saying in talent of team but in record and trajectory)

Kentucky went 22-9 (12-6) for the regular season and 24-10 heading into selection Sunday after they made the SEC tournament final barely lost by 1 point to the #1 team in the nation and we got stuck with an 8 seed. I had us as a 6 seed.

I just checked my spreadsheet (I have my projection predictions on excel from 2003 on saved)

Kentucky was 4-6 vs the top 50 that year (that is equivalent to what people now use quad 1 for)
Kentucky was also 10-3 vs 51-100 (quad 2)
Kentucky was 10-1 vs 101+ (quad 3+4)

This year we are currently 5-7 vs quad 1 and 6-0 vs quad 2 and 9-2 vs quad 3+4

I imagine we will show up as a 6 in a lot of bracketologies that come out tomorrow. Winning at Arkansas would probably solidify us at a 6 at the worst. Also depends who we play in the SEC tourney. Beating Vandy in our first game probably wouldn't help our seeding

I do think if we win 3 more games (whether that’s vandy and 2 in the SEC tourney or vandy + Arkansas and 1 in the SEC tourney) we will be no lower than a 7.

We were an 8 before this game so I have to think at least a 5. Especially with all these teams dropping like flies to bad teams.

Hard to know because it always depends on other teams and we don't need to win out we just need to win out until SEC final because we all know that game is the most meaningless game of the year.
Absolutely true.

It doesn't matter if Kentucky wins out until the NCAA tournament, the losses to Georgia, South Carolina, and Michigan State will keep Kentucky from getting a higher seed.

I think Kentucky will be the 6 to 9 seed. I'm hoping for the 6th seed because an 8 or 9 seed would put us against the #1 seed. However though, it doesn't matter what seed Kentucky gets because we still have to beat the top teams regardless of seeding.

Would honestly prefer a 6-seed over a 4 or 5 in this particular tournament. Keeps us on the opposite side of the bracket of the 1-seed longer. I think the teams headed to the 1-seed spots are a cut above the rest of the field (though still beatable depending on matchups, etc.) Still wanna avoid them as long as possible. There's a lot of parity from the 2-seeds down to the 7s or 8s where anybody can beat anybody.

UK is 20th in net right now. Should be back in the top 20 this week so UK should be a 5/6 seed right now. The thought of winning out and getting to a 3/4 line is not crazy. Also depends on what other like teams do the rest of the season. I’ll say this if UK wins out after playing short handed over half of the season they will be one of the teams coming in with the greatest momentum. All that said, winning at Arkansas is gonna be challenging and will provide a true measuring stick of how far weve come. Now don’t overlook Vandy 😂. Then there’s the SEC tournament that is gonna be fun to watch this year! Just keep winning baby!

I think 4 is our highest possible seed if we don’t lose another game. 2011 and 2016 should have taught us that they will stick us on that 4/5 line whenever possible.

Lose 1 or 2 more and I think it’s an 8. Part of me thinks just 1 more loss before the SEC final gives us an 8. 2014 come to mind.

That second round matchup with Houston or Purdue is exactly what this committee is craving. It’s already penciled in on a board in Indy, and they will use our loss to USC to justify it.

Already a 6 here. A 4 is definitely on the table

How many times have we went we definitely could be a 2/3/4 Under Cal only to be 2-3 seeds lower lol. You know they won’t help us even if they have to make up some random criteria why. Like Kentucky lost to South Carolina, that’s why they dropped. Duke has some horrible losses and meh wins and they will move them 3 seeds above where they should be based on beating Clemson or something.
