I love what Joe has done for the university. It wouldn't be what it is today without him. Great guy.

OTOH, Joe died nearly 14 years ago. Many will think me a jackass for saying this but what Joe would have done is irrelevant and impossible to determine in today's college football world of NIL, player payments, portal madness, etc. Maybe he'd have thought it's not worth being involved in the current college football atmosphere since it's not his vision of what the sport should be. But again, impossible to determine.

For some people ot os about the competition, not the money. Michael Jordan is an example. He had hundreds of millions, but would join the "low level" poker game on plane, after winning all the high rollers' money, just because he wanted to win. Those people are also basically unicorns.

Jordan was boiling mad when he lost at pitching pennies. That was a great scene. And Keegan Michael Key nailed it on SNL

In other words, MJ was addicted and a greedy bastard.

Run on first and second down. Conservative pass on third down. Punt. Rinse, wash, repeat. Try to win a 13-10 game. That would have been Joe’s vanilla game plan.
Maybe but a lot would depend on the players he had. Kerry Collins passed a lot. We passed a lot when we had DWill, Butler, & Norwood. When we didn't have the players we often had mobile QBs like MRob & Clark.

Yeah. We also had Matt Seneca and Morelli. Along with Paul Jones, Rob Bolden, McGloin and whole host of other ineffective QBs that PSU had to take because they couldn’t recruit the top QB talent because of the vanilla offense and Joe/Jay. Joe frequently turtled up and got very conservative in big games. It drove many, including myself, crazy.

Did Coleman even play last night? I don't remember seeing him one time out there. I guess playing a big boy team is a lot different than Villanova and FIU.
He got schooled a bit as is normal for a true freshman playing DE. A necessary part of his development. He can obviously contribute a lot this year but he'll be better after a year of S&C.
