Wall and Cousins. Don’t remember the exact year, but took my daughter. She was so into UK basketball as a young teenager. Now, like me, she’d rather gig frogs. I kinda like that. Shove it Cal.For non-sports it was the Oak Ridge Boys in February of 1982. For sports it was the entire 1982 Boys Sweet Sixteen, culminating with Laurel County's Paul Andrews making the championship-winning basket from beyond half-court to beat North Hardin 53-51. When people talk about the shot nowadays they estimate it was anywhere between 55 and 5,000 feet long. What was your first Rupp Arena experiences, both sports and non-sports?
I know the guy who got Big Bertha when it was replaced.Woah - it actually said Big Bertha on the speaker? I do not remember that.
It’s close to home then huh? Can’t imagine it other than a cow pasture fly-by?I know the guy who got Big Bertha when it was replaced.

Well he was just tryin to ensure every individual was safe while enjoying the experience. He was just doing his part... nobody even has to ask him, he just took it upon himself to give bus escorts, stop speeding cars, park cars, and make arrests and what does he get in return for it? Not even a thanks and they even made him take his RedI was arrested by a guy impersonating a cop.

Do you just live too far away? It’s my hope before the good Lord calls me home to get to attend a game in Rupp Arena to watch my beloved Wildcats …never been there …

You’re going to have to elaborate. Is it still operational? What does the good doctor do with it? I’d probably practice doing player intros. Where does the doctor store it?A doctor in Glasgow owns it

Man I would've love those Crispin brothers if they put on a display like that anywhere except they just had to do it in Lexington! Those 2 lit UK up and I think they had one other guy who had like 8-10 points but aside from that it was 3 on 5 and they just spanked us. always wondered what it must've been like that in Rupp that night. Now I gotta go over and look at the box score because I may be remembering this wrong.First game at Rupp was actually a KHSAA SW16 games....First UK game waas versus Tenn....Most memorable was game vs Penn----memorable b/c it was first time me and my brother ever attended a UK game together.
Mot memorable runner-up ws when wife and I attended UK/Vandy. Jorts Senior night. Cats were up big, but Vandy came roaring back, and had a chance at the end to win; they missed. And thank GOD. During one of the "Cats-Cats-Cats" cheers, one of the fans yelled at me to, "get into man!!"---My wife, innocently says---"He's an Indiana fan"----Gulp. Brother it got quiet, and it felt like all 24,000 were looking at me....Needless to say when Vandy missed, there was absolutely NO ONE in the building happier than me.....
Best concert was Garth Brooks.

You're welcome. I enjoy going to Jon Scott's site and looking through all of the history. I remember feeling shocked after that game. As it turned out, Penn State was actually good that season, advancing to the round of 16. I enjoyed when they beat North Carolina in the 2nd round that season. Thanks for pulling this up for me. I done been back there twice today to see how many assists the Crispin's had and then once again to check out how Saul fared against PSUYou're welcome.
