What was your first game at Rupp?

[420grover]

1993 Sweet Sixteen. Christian County vs Marion County. Still the only game I've ever been to in Rupp.

[Estil]

December 7, 1999 when we hosted UNC-Asheville and beat them 86-41...I'm sure I got the ticket stub and program from that game around here somewhere...

I really should've went to more games when I was a student there (1999-2003)...but I guess it couldn't be helped I was (and is) always the quiet loner type. I sure hope I can someday take my wife to Rupp Arena (it'd have to be handicapped/wheelchair friendly for her though)

[MomHogan]

Opening game in Rupp Arena - in the student section. Also attended the last regular season game in Memorial Coliseum. If I recall correctly, it was a very close game (maybe even OT?) that we almost lost - which was unthinkable. The crowd really helped pull them through that game!

[DelkBowl]

I was about 9 and don't remember the game (1976-77 season) and it was the UKIT. My dad took my brother the first night and me the next.

[Orionorl]

First game, so I guess it was Wisconsin. Way, way up in the 4 dollar student seats with the other pot smokers.

[Blue Decade]

I don't know. I saw some games at Memorial Coliseum. I saw a lot of games at Rupp Arena when it 1st opened in 1976, and in every year since except when I was deployed overseas.

[efudexto]

Miss. State 1996-97 season

[BlueVelvetFog]

Cedric Jenkins tip in game over UL in 1987. Not bad eh?

[millayc]

Alaska-Ankorage 1999

[KentuckyStout]

Maybe Czechoslovakia, if you have the year right.

Wow, I was off by a couple years - it was 1987 against the Soviet Union.

My first games at Rupp was during these 2, the first UKIT game in Rupp vs.Bowling Green (win). Then saw them lose the next game for their very first loss in Rupp Arena - losing in the UKIT championship game to Utah. Very disappointing game.

February 15th 1990. We won a barnburner we should not even have been in vs. LSU with Shaq and Chris Jackson. Most people agree it was one of the rowdiest buzzer to buzzer Rupp crowds ever. Probably one of the reasons I got hooked so hard so fast. Girlfriend took me.

My screen name is actually a reference to when we split up.

South Carolina in 1997. Pitino's last game at UK. USC with their 3 guards, Watson, McKie, and I forget the other dudes name swept us that year. Pitino got ejected with like 3 seconds left. It was the first time they had lost on senior night in 30 or 40 something years. Their was supposed to be an awards thing after the game but it got cancelled. Mercer and someone else came out and apologized and promised to cut down the nets at the end of the year. They came SO DAMN CLOSE TOO.

Its crazy cause my first UK game ever we drove all the way to Columbia to watch them play USC in the 94 season finale and I will be damned if we did not lose that game. What a lot of people forget about that team is that they beat 3 of the final four teams in Arizona, Florida, and Arkansas. We got redeemed though because we went to the SEC tourney at the Pyramid in Memphis and beat MSU, Arkansas, and Florida to win the SEC title.

Whats even crazier is that had UK beaten Marquette in the 2nd round that year we would have played Duke in Knoxville and we had tickets. Of course that blew up in our faces lol

TCU 1976, believe it was the 2nd game ever in Rupp.

Unpopular opinion: Always liked the Rainbow seats in Rupp.

My first basketball game in Rupp wasn't a UK game but, a Sweet Sixteen game in either '83 or '84. Watching my Pulaski Co. high school team.

you know what? I forgot about my HS going to the sweet 16 - senior year 1987 - our entire senior class was excused to go to the first round
