None, y’all blame media too much for your personal ignorance and arrogance. Grow some personal responsibility and let people take the proper blame.
It can't be that black & white, there's got to be some percentage of responsiblity by how the media reports team news.what is primarily to blame for the reaction is that most coaches worth their salt show some degree of improvement - at least a sliver in year one - and then significant improvement in year 2. The fan base was foolish enough to believe that after paying their new coach a top ten national salary that we might expect some improvement compared to the staff they replaced. Can you believe the completely unrealistic expectations?
I'd be checking my desk apples closely if I were you.'s what we do, "media" or not.
My students at Iowa are amazed at Nebraskans' optimism — not arrogance, not ignorance, not blind loyalty — but maybe they're just being nice.

....in the over-reaction of Husker Fans after early season losses?
you are right ... 2% media and 98% the assumption we were getting a significant coaching upgrade
We did get a significant coaching upgrade dummy. It's idiots like you that think you have to be owed 56-0 blowouts 14 games into turning around a program that was broken when the new staff came in.
You're a very wordy columnist.Because none of them don't know jack ****. I'll just talk about the local media.
1: They go to these 30 minute practice viewerships and watch people run drills and do warm ups. They are then shown the door as it is time to leave. They come to conclusions on that.
2: When they watch them warmup they say things like...wow these guys are lengthy. Wow he looks fast. Here is x or y player running a drill. He looks great. JFC, every school in the country has players looking good in basic drills that all schools do.
3: They need ratings and clicks to their articles so they push the unrealistic crap to keep their jobs.
4: There was one media person at 247 (the fat beard guy that looks like a walking heart attack coming) that said Wandale wouldn't be able to come in and play right away like he has been and that the linebacker out of TN would come in and play as a true frosh. He used the "what coaches are saying" BS to give him cover on his idiocy. None of those guys at 247 know jack #$% about football.
5: They don't realize just how broken the program became and when some losses happen as we rebuild they go full potatoe and act like it is the end of the world or bring up the past in all games. It's not just players learning how to win, it's also the dumb media bringing up the past no matter what is happening in the game. Just yesterday that dumb Sam guy at the OMW made a tweet about past Colorado come backs when we were leading 17-0. So what if that has happened in the past. Get over it and be positive instead.
5: When Frost talks about being better at all positions besides x or y they take that too literal and think it means we are ready to win a conference title. F'n idiots. Frost is talking about how the roster is getting improved in comparison to where it was, not where it needs to get to.
IMO the media should be banned from talking to players. When a player is saying so and so is doing good things in practice the dumb media hypes that up acting like that player is going to be a star.

But don’t you think they push the cool aide? I understand it’s their job but let be more realistic, like the rebuilding is still in progress and the goal this year it to make a bowl game, now be honest wouldn’t your expectations be considerably lower? And I’m not being sarcasticI think this “I’m pissed at the media, because they didn’t tell me what to expect” stuff is stupid. They write stuff to sell papers, we form our own conclusions. Being pissed because press conferences and news articles made you think the team would be better is just silly.
Pissed? Just to be clear, OP did not state, or insinuate, any anger towards the media. They're just doing their jobs, which is to make advertising dollars. It just so happens when they do their jobs well and the coaches don't, people's expectations are fool's gold.I think this “I’m pissed at the media, because they didn’t tell me what to expect” stuff is stupid. I have lived in Eastern Iowa for 35 years and my friends are older long time serious football fans. Although it only takes a few Ignorant Husker fans on message boards plus an unrealistic national media, my clear take is Iowa fans view NU fans as arrogant and living on long past glory days with expectations of a National Championship. I am 100% behind Scott Frost and giving him all the time he needs, but I am not looking forward to going to work tomorrow.'s what we do, "media" or not.

Looks and preforming are two different things. Now I understand your upset with frost, 1 he’s not going anywhere anytime soon 2 so you can complain like the rest of us or find a different team to root for. No I’m not happy either, but people forget what a dumpster fire he inherited, I would be willing to bet that not many coaches could have done much better“Every position looks better than it did last year.” — Scott Frost
It would be ok if we had Tanner Farmer one more year at center. Winking“Every position looks better than it did last year.” — Scott Frost
