Two German Shepherds and two cats. Oldest shepherd is about to become an inside dog because she’s not getting around so well and our younger shepherd has started to pick fights with her. We’ll probably add another outside dog and it will probably be a third shepherd.

Another with a Pug... Technically, the wife got a Pug but it ended up my dog. Snorts, snot, hard-headed, and the worst farts this side of a bulldog.

We got - I’m not joking here - surprise gifted a pug for our engagement gift by my now wife’s best friend. I was furious, and without getting into details, there was a 3 day drama fest. Now I’m like a 6 year old girl to the dog all the time. I’m just basically walking around the house speaking nonsense in a high-pitched voice to the damn thing probably 3 quarters of the day. I told said wife’s best friend that by no means should she take her shot-in-the-dark success as an indication that she should replicate her bizarre, uncalled for and completely insane action again. Thinks she is a badass, snores like a damn chainsaw and farts like a chemical spill. The dog drives me insane as well.

1 cat and 1 dog. Both are inside and they are best friends. Our dog was a shelter dog from Starkville. Half Lab and half Beagle. Worst chewing/digging dog ever. She will kill anything including moles. She is also the best kids dog ever. Loves our kids and sleeps with the oldest. Let’s our baby do whatever to her without a sound.

The cat is my wife’s. Didn’t want it. She said it was going to be outside only. It isn’t’t.

3 dogs... 2 Boxers (4 year old fawn rescue and 2 year old white with a few brindle marks) and a 3 year old rescue mix that looks mostly like a Pit. He’s blue and is probably the best dog we’ve ever had. One of his litter mates had the DNA test that said 75% Pit, 12.5% Boxer and 12.5% Hound/mixture of multiple breeds. Yes, I know litter mates can be from different father’s, but we’re not paying for the test so we just go with this as our estimate.

My acquisition of a pug was much more nefarious. My wife had been after me to get one for years. We already had a dog and I consistently refused. When her mother decided to get a dog for company, my wife steered her towards a pug puppy. 4 months later my wife walks into my den, crosses her arms in a very defensive manner, and says "We have to talk." I thought she was about to demand a divorce... Nope, MIL can't handle a puppy and we need to take her; No other option. To this day I'm convinced my wife plotted the whole thing to finally get what she wanted.

So now she gets to post all the cutesy pug-pictures on Facebook and I get to enjoy all the brutal reality of owning one.

Welp since we barely have any sports topics...

I have 3 cats. That's right, 3. My in-laws have been making snide remarks about me having cats and telling me I should have a dog. Now, we all live in a city where we all have less than 500 sq. ft of actual lawn. I grew up with dogs in Mississippi. My dogs had roughly 400 acres of woods to run around and be dogs... chase rabbits, eat frogs, go hunting with me, etc... and would come in at night and fall asleep in front of the couch. These dogs were happy and lived long and healthy lives.

After graduating from state I moved from city to city and lived in apartments and a couple houses, I met my wife and slowly accumulated these furballs over 6 years. I never wished to get a dog since I lived in an apartment and spend roughly 70-90 hours/week focused on finishing my doctorate and couldn't justify adopting one.

Currently, my in-laws have been real ******** with their remarks. They have 3 terribly trained dogs that they keep in crates most of the day and walk when they have the time at night. They say they could "never have a cat because of cleaning a litter box", yet they are picking up hot dog **** on walks and in their yards.

I can't wait to move away from them and get a few hundred acres.

Pack, lets hear it, what animals do you have?

I was a dog guy before meeting my wife. But inherited 2 inside cats. An American shorthair and a Scottish Fold. Both black & white. They are hilarious to watch, especially the Scottish Fold.
