What if we get JQ back?

Kam and Lowe are definitely out, might get Kam back at some point, that would be awesome, but the announcers were saying JQ was out there getting shots up before the game. Now, he was just shooting, not warming up, so don't take that as he is making progress.

But getting him back prior to the Florida game, would be a pretty big deal I would think. We have Moreno, Garrison and Mo D down low and that's a pretty good group, but Florida is deeper than that. Getting JQ back, would get us a lot closer to equal with them.

I would hope JQ liked what he saw last night, maybe that gets him more motivated to get back on the court. If for nothing else, he gives us 5 more fouls to use and some rebounds.

I don't know if I want him back(this season). At some point you have to develop your rotation with what you have available. You just cant rely on a guy, who in February, is still unreliable health wise. Go with what you got.

I understand the potential, but the unreliability is just a big red flag

He’s not going to play again and that’s just fine. If he is available, give him Garrisons mins if Garrison is bad Garrison. If he’s not, let him sit. The rotation is what it is at this point. The 9 know their roles. The team can beat good teams if they make shots. The team can get crushed by good teams if they don’t. Margin of error is slim. JQ 10-15 mins/game isn’t changing that.

On a team with a Sweet 16 ceiling, I’d rather play the guys we have. JQ is 100% guaranteed to be a 1st Rd NBA draft pick so there’s no incentive to build for the future with him. Roll with what we have and continue to monitor the development of all of the guys with remaining eligibility.

It was clear after the Bellarmine game that he doesn’t have the explosiveness that made him such a force. I am guessing that he will come. Just not this season.

The best thing for everyone is to accept that it’s was a gamble that didn’t pay off. Not anyone's fault. I am sure the training staff did what is best for his future. Just sucks for sure.

Don’t want him back . We won’t use him right for dad’s liking. Hes not injured . He’s in full shut down mode for the draft:

Pope just said he’s in full shut down mode. And fans still dont believe it.
“Full shutdown mode” in the way Pope used it means he isn’t practicing basketball drills. Not that he is never coming back. Pope even talked about trying to get the knee to stop swelling. Did you read a headline and interpret this wrong? Obviously you did and didn’t actually listen to everything that was said. He may not be back if the knee doesn’t stop swelling, but if it does he definitely will be.

Resting it without constant use in practice and my money is on the swelling subsides in a week or two max. Hopefully the strength will be there to compete the final games of the regular season and into the post season.

I heard all of the medical talk. Every bit of it: he’s not playing for us. You know by now my intelligence is up to par with understanding what Pope said. Play with somebody else

He’s going to have to prove himself at some point and I don’t think it’s a certainty that he’ll impress NBA evaluators. He can’t shoot beyond 5 feet and his health is still in question. I have a feeling he may sit in the green room longer than Will Levis.

I bet you he goes in the lottery either way. Unfortunately, as Kentucky fans we sometimes base everything on what they did at Kentucky and ignore what they did beforehand. NBA scouts aren’t like that — they are very well aware of JQ’s motor, transition finishing, switchability on defense, elite athleticism, basketball IQ and vertical leap. We got to see a glimpse of that only one time, which was the St. John’s game. After that, his explosiveness was gone and he looked like a shell — yes, this means I believe the injury reports are true. I don’t believe his camp wanted him to put more film on tape where he was less than 80%. He’s going to be a very good NBA player and has a lot of bad offensive habits that can be corrected. Someone could take him in the 8-14 range and get a lot more value than you normally get in that range.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out why they have him as a lottery pick. He can't shoot and with a rebuilt ACL, it's hard for me to see an NBA franchise using a lottery pick on him, especially when you see so many other options out there. This freshmen class is the deepest we have seen in decades.

Put him on the Miami Heat under the tutelage of Bam Adebayo. They are currently 15th I believe.

I'd take JQ back in a heartbeat if he could give us 15-18 good minutes of hard play a game. He doesn't even need to score beyond lobs and put backs. Just having him out there hunting blocks and grabbing boards makes a huge difference. Moreno has improved dramatically on the defensive end, especially playing the screen game and rotating to the right spot. But he doesn't have the strength or bounce that JQ does.

Felt like they shut him down after bad performances after the St. Johns game were affecting his draft position. Now all the hype over this year's freshmen class is making it drop more. Might have to get on the court to improve his position

Yep, still raking in that NIL money and using UK's medical and physical therapy resources to prep for the NBA. And using UK players to keep nimble and prep for the combine and beyond.

Some people think this is some kind of conspiracy theory, but those are just too naive to believe it is most likely JQ is being directed to sit and wait for the draft, even with the Sharpe situation having unfolded right before our eyes.

EDIT: I am not at all beating on JQ as an individual or berating his character. Unfortunately, they are being taken advantage of by "handlers", agents, parents, and overall greedy MF'ers. When I speak negatively about these kids doing this to UK (Sharpe included), I speak directly about their "manipulators" that empower this crap.

I think he’s sitting as a combination of caution and not being explosive enough or in good enough shape. The thought is he can only hurt his draft stock. I’d love to have the St John’s version for the rest of the season. I’m not holding my breath.

I don’t agree. I think we’re going to have to get pretty lucky to reach the Sweet 16 with the group we have left, but adding an interior talent like JQ might help you steal a game or 2.

Guess I’m saying that with a healthy JQ in this year’s tournament we look like a Sweet 16 team. Get there, play great D, maybe you even survive another game.

I don’t think the roster we have left looks like a Sweet 16 team. I’ll buy your Sweet 16 ceiling. Definitely look like a team that could easily lose first game, probably lose within first 2.

I just really enjoy getting to that second weekend. Have taken it for granted most of my life. I think a healthy JQ stacks the odds more in our favor. If we somehow also got Kam back, I would be ecstatic.

He better hope that the potential the NBA drafts for doesn't include any footage of him in UK games.

I'd rather not hear anything more about the quitter, and I hope Pope stands firmly against bringing on anymore injured or rehabbing players.

I battle with this because he’s clearly the most talented player we have on the roster.

But I am a little fatigued of the “is he in or is he out” talk. Can be a bit draining. As much as it hurt to lose Lowe, there’s some relief for the fans (and players I’m sure), knowing who’s going to be competing game to game.

Expecting JQ’s next game played will be in the NBA. If he comes back and contributes on the court at Kentucky, great, but not necessary. Not upset at him for sitting either. Just hope he can get healthy eventually and be an ambassador to the program at some point.

I hope JQ’s camp is not expecting lottery. Because I don’t think he’s gonna be in it. This is one of the strongest drafts in years. Why take a chance on a guy who’s limited offensively who’s having trouble coming off a knee injury? Can see him being a draft day fall.

I don’t think he’s 100% a first rounder. His potential is what had him going so high to begin with. He’s basically missed a full year and didn’t look like his old self when he did play. This draft is one of the more loaded drafts in years. It will come down to his pre draft workouts and medical evaluations.

His style isn’t exactly what the nba is all about right now anyway.

I’ll absolutely take the lottery bet. Unless this knee stuff is all BS and he’s fine, he’s outside the lottery at this point. He’s got a lot of ground to make up to get back in the lotto.

We will see…still think he offers a lot of upside, especially at 11-14 pick.
