No April fools unfortunately. Sounds like an injury that will require major rehab. If true this really sucks. The kid looked great on Snapchat and I was expecting great things from he and Grant tandem this year. Let's all Pray that the injury comes back much less signicant then it initially sounds.

The twitter feed is very vague. Does anyone have any updates on this? I haven't seen a thing mentioned by the coaches yet. Is it a hoax?

It looks like he got hurt and still waiting to know the extent. Often they will not do an MRI right after the injury. Probably won't hear anything until Monday.

This. A Monday MRI will probably dictate if his 2017 season is over

At least there is 5 months until the season starts. Unless it's a fracture or an ACL that's a good amount of time to heal and rehab. Even if it is an ACL, he should be able to return during the season.

If it is a ACL (hopefully not ) he is better off sitting out this year and return in 2018 for his final 2 years.

It depends on his rehab and how he responds and progresses. There are some accelerated programs that get players back in 6 months. Usually it's 9 months. But yeah, lowest rate of reinjury is returning after a full year.

I would think word would have gotten out if there was a possibility Ahmir might have suffered a major injury.
This could be something that keeps him from spring practice to make sure it doesn't get worse, but by fall practice Mitchell is expect to be 100%.
No one seems to know in this thread and it's a your guess is good as mine situation
when we talk about what might have happened.

According to Ryan Dunleavy: "[Mitchell] left Saturday's practice after suffering an injury running in the open field, according to sources."

Nothing more said in the article on status.

Right now he has 4 years remaining. If he were sit out due to an injury he would have at minimum 3 years remaining, possibly a 4th if he could get the 6th year medical exemption.

Not correct. B1G transfers rules are sit one plus lose one. He used his RS and now has 3 left to play 3.

He would also have to miss another whole year due to injury to apply for a 6th year.

As in missing this year... and apply for a 6th year in 2019 if he wants to play his 3rd and final season in 2020.

Nope. This would be his first missed year due to injury. Taking a redshirt year for any other reason would not count. So he would still have to miss another full year due to unjury and be able to prove it to the NCAA before requesting a 6th year.

This is in line with what I have read several places...4 years of eligibility remaining. I guess will find out for sure down the road.

He only has 3 years reaming due to B1G transfer rules. He is not eligible for a 6th year because his redshirt last year was not due to injury. He would have to miss another season with injury to qualify.

Wait a second ...I thought everyone on the Post said he still has 4 years after this year because the Transfer rules do not apply in his case. (?)
