All of the local sports programming is gonzo. I listened to both the morning and afternoon shows and they’ve gone to national programming and it’s AWFUL. it’s an instant channel change now. I thought at first that they were taking a break for Sharpie’s funeral etc but they never came back on.
What happened at 590 am.

Hurrdat sports went digital, you can get them on YouTube but not over the air anymore, unless someone knows what frequency to tune into. Sounds like they wanted to cuss without getting into trouble
Sadly when they change their format to all sports they changed call signs, which is sad wow radio is iconic and historic to Omaha and the state of Nebraska
KOIL had Dialing for Dollars in the 60s. We had a neighbor whose phone number was close to KOIL's and she was pissed.
I live in Kansas City and try to stream 1620 as much as I can; I mainly enjoy their insights/interviews with Sipple, Schaefer, Bigelow, Vrzal, etc. But it’s getting unbearable with this new/too young wannabe hotshot Matt with Gary in the morning. You can tell Gary wants to get rid of him as soon as possible. Nick Handley was scared of his own shadow and stepping on Gary during their show together but at least Nick knew when to shut the hell up.
I may have to try streaming 1620. It's a little tough to do with my phone at the farm. I used to enjoy Handley when he had his own show. I can't get 1620 on my car or tractor radios anymore up here. It used to come in during the day but it's as if the FCC made them turn down the juice on their transmitter and I can't get it on I-29 until about 45-50 miles out of Omaha.
Time to move to 620 AM. That's still sports radio. Back in the day, anything sports was good enough. Does anyone remember The Fabulous Sports Babe? Her show was absolutely awful, but I listened to it. Same thing with Jim Rome. He's been doing the same show for 30-40 years now-- complain about this, make fun of that. Interview a guest and then read all of the caller messages telling him what an epic interview that was.
YES! That Matt dude is horrible. Clearly Gary calls the shots and clearly he will be making sure that he has a new co-host soon.
If I'm thinking of the same guy, that Matt is like 22 years old. His idea of the good old days of Husker football was winning the Foster Farms Bowl back in '15.
Pretty sure it was. At night our transistor radios would reach farther.
KOIL, WGN, KCMO, WLS
Matt is young, he will find his way, I doubt Sharp or Handley were great at 22 or 23 either. Matt has good knowledge, he just needs to learn when to stop, sometimes he goes on too long. Granted, I only listen to them when I am on a break from school, so last time listening was in early January.
Not a big Happer fan. His show is really about nothing, it is Seinfeld without the talent and comedy.
I never really listen to the afternoon guys. The younger one reminds me of how some of my cousins that went to Central high in the 80's acted. Sort of preppy and thought way too highly of themselves. They outgrew it, not sure he will.
Let's hope so! I stream that show down here in Texas for anything football/volleyball/wrestling related and this kid is terrible... I maybe only listen to 1 or 2 segments a week now that he's on, granted the sports I'm interested in are over or almost over so the content has subsided but I still avoid listening to them because of him...
Couldn't agree more with you in regards to both Happer and the afternoon guys. It's like tuning in to listen to guys tell inside jokes that no one else understands for a few hours.
If you podcast instead of steam you can download what you want to listen to when your service is ****.

People can hate on Schick and Nick all they want, but Pelini Martini and Off-Color Commentary had me rolling.
Severe is not and never has been “anti-Nebraska”
He just has no time for the sunshine and lollipop BS that some Nebraska fans crave.
