What explains this with Sellers?

He was so instinctive as a runner in 2024. He would’ve turned up field and this would’ve been a touchdown. Without hesitation. Now he just makes a bee line for the sideline after picking up the first down. I guess at least he had the awareness to get the first down.

This, but there's more to it.

Sellers had a pretty spectacular 1st season. It was wall to wall hype. The plan, (his plan) was to play one more season, and then turn pro. All things were headed that direction. Then, the second season rolled around last year and the wheels fell off, forcing him to effectively return for this season. - It's a combo of being in his head, coaching, and doing just enough to win without risking injury. He's between a rock and hard place and has gotten some very bad advice somewhere.

I remember that play exactly, because I remember asking my living room if there was any defender after that one DB.

I understand coaching your guy to avoid injury, but when there's only one guy between you and the endzone (if that was indeed the case), wouldn't you also want him to try to juke that guy and get the score. Sellers is a tough out for a DB one on one in the open field.

in fairness, he did pick up the first down, yes he ran out of bounds, but many qb's avoid contact now, many will take the slide rather than taking a hit. I don't have a problem with this particular instance. My issue was the fumble under center at the one yard line, that is stuff you cannot do, the multiple interceptions that essentially gifted the game in the third qtr.
