What Does Cal Actually Do?

A lot of pin downs, huh? Good Lord. 🤣

EDIT: Did we run anything else, or just pin downs?
I said off ball screens for shooters. Specifically shooters running baseline and from the wing to the corner. The offense changed halfway through the season. We had guys who couldn’t shoot and guys who wouldn’t shoot when they were open. That’s on Cal but to see the offense didn’t change is just completely ignorant.

It’s just such a constant thing every single day. Something good happens and immediately the same group of 5-6 posters just come in and **** on everything and whine and complain. This board used to be cool and people supported the team. Now you can go on rival teams board and see them laughing at us for melting down and complaining about the team.

Just when I think our unrealistic fans can't get any dumber....they somehow manage to out do themselves. There have been many laughable threads lately, this takes the cake. He got in the Hall of Fame doing nothing.

I really really wish the closet racist, unrealistic, uneducated segment of our fans base would become UT or lil bro fans. I'm so tired of being embarrassed by fellow UK fans. Its beyond frustrating to be lumped with these morons.
It’s extremely embarrassing. Other fan bases look down on us. Young kids don’t think it’s cool to play here anymore. That segment of the fan base allows other fans to weaponize their own ignorance against the entire fan base. You tell someone you’re a Kentucky fan and they’re surprised you aren’t a babbling hillbilly. That’s embarrassing.

Brother I'm sorry. But it's true. I have a black wife and mixed child. So maybe I'm overly sensitive. But when people ***** about the team and coach being vocal about social issues, they are being closet racists. Then the poster's ive seen use Ebonics slang to act like they are speaking as a player is being straight racist. I mean sure no ones come out and said they don't like black folks. But read between the lines and its a clear problem with the team supporting black rights that makes them mad. Why, cause they are a bit racist. I'm sorry Atrain its how I see it man. Like i said having a black wife and child makes me see through a different lens.
There’s no such thing as systemic racism in America. It’s all a bunch of BS the liberals and media try to spoon feed people to create chaos and keep everyone in argument mode. They turn everyone against each other in order to make it easier to make their agendas reality.

When is the last time you saw where a white man was murdered by a police officer? I would imagine a very long time and that’s by design. There’s more white people that are killed by police than black people. They don’t tell you that, though. It doesn’t fit their false narrative.

BLM is nothing more than a Marxist organization. They hide behind a fake moniker and have made millions off the backs of deceased black people. They have donated exactly 0 dollars to any of these “victims” families. It’s truly disgusting,

I don’t care about that either I’m not talking about that at all and I’m not necessarily talking about you. I’ve had conversations with you. You’re more negative than not but not completely negative.

It’s always been that way. 2015 we had threads on every board. 2014 as well. in 2012 the main board had a meltdown due to us winning. We are hated.

Yea the problem is now our own fan base is attacking the team every chance they get. It’s annoying.

Me, I think the problem was Cal made some bad decisions a few years ago and we just had a terrible season, that was the culmination of those poor decisions. I think the segment of the fanbase trying to imply everyone who has a critical comment is racist and whining don't have an actual argument. That's just my view. Nobody has to like it or agree with it.

excellent post Ryan, you’re right. Instead of being a fan of the team i’ve been a fan of since I was in 4th grade I should go cheer for another team. WOW!
Changing the subject: I really loved the 90's wire to wire Reds. Loved how they swept Oakland when many experts thought they might win one game. My two favorite moments were Eric's homerun in inning 1 in game 1 and Jose Rio being interviewed by Juan Marichal post game 4.
Pinella was great and the nasty boys were awesome!

I understand what you are saying. There are racist people I’m sure in every segment of Society including fan bases. I just don’t believe there is anymore in UK’s than anywhere else. When people say things like all of the fans who disagreed with the players political stance are racist that’s painting with a pretty broad brush and I’m not in agreement there. BTW, I had no problem with them kneeling even tho I wouldn’t have personally done it.

Not trying to get into a political or kneeling argument it’s been way overdone here. I respect your opinion even if I happen to disagree. We are all Uk fans. Best of luck to you.

I never said anything about systematic racism or BLM. You don't know how I feel about either. I didn't call Jeff a racist either. Go back and read the thread and if you can see some posts that aren't right then youre not looking bro. ( Edit: my posts about the racist stuff is gone. Funny the mods took mine down but also tje ones I thought were racist. So guess they saw them as racist aa well. Mods scrubbed them all. But this proves my point, maybe they don't realize it but people post stuff lately that can be construed as racistish) This isn't a political thing at all to me. Its about no it smart people some of whom are semi racist and they may not realize it or feel they are...

You're absolutely putting words in mouth though. That hurts coming from you especially man. You know me a bit. You know I'm not one to BS or lie or make stuff up. Its the way I felt when I read some posts in this thread and I read in this board. And again, Jeff isn't one I'm talking about with the race stuff. (Edit: idk maybe he was one of them. Many of his posts were scrubbed too. Idk 2 people crossed a line and the mods thought so also..and I didnt report the posts)

True story: Coach Cal had mold developing in his wine cellar. My wife’s brother owns a large restoration company that operates in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. The job took four hours and Cal was on his couch watching a Certain News Network (not napping) for four consecutive hours. Unreal.

No, I never said that you said that. I was just posting a general statement. Wasn’t directed toward you at all. Sorry if it came off that way. For the record, that wasn’t meant toward you or anyone. Just stating some of my opinion and a lot of fact.

EDIT: I reread your post and figured out what sparked my reply post. When you were talking about Cal and him being vocal about social issues.

My point is that there aren’t really social issues as far as systemic racism is concerned. He’s trying to fight a battle against something that’s a man made/manufactured issue. It’s all BS, literally. Even Kamala Harris said just last week that America wasn’t a racist country. Totally contradicting everything the left has been spewing for a long time now.

Even if these issues did exist, it’s not Cal’s place to be vocal about them. He’s the basketball coach at the most prominent program in the country, not a politician or an activist. That’s where the disconnect comes in with the fanbase. Plus, Kentucky is a conservative state. No, conservatives aren’t by default, racist, either. IMO, all of Cal’s energy should be focused/spent on the basketball program and his family.

FYI, again, none of this is directed toward you.

We’ve all noticed lately that his recruiting goes the way of his assistants and he doesn’t seem to call recruits much himself. (Maybe the not calling himself is a rumor? Maybe he preferred in person and coronavirus stopped that?)

We’ve definitely learned from the departures of Strickland, Antigua, and Payne that it was principally not Cal himself but rather key assistants who mostly did the player development magic.

We’ve always said he didn’t really do Xs and Os and we give him a pass on that.

So that leaves….teaching man-to-man switching D and sort of an offense? And marketing?

Anything else?

It’s amazing that you can type all of that and not realize at any point how ignorant of a post you made.
I spit up my coffee lmao. Can I borrow this? Don’t want to plagiarize but this one-liner with a slight change would be a perfect response to any of my ex’s texts or emails.

What makes you think it was inadvertent?
I’m of the opinion that our HC needs to way more “hands on” than a typical CEO. Delegating when he has to...but the truly important work should be his prerogative. Do you agree?

@ryanbruner Alvarado committing soon or nah?
If he enters the portal he will but Josh Pastner is causing problems. They’re going to take 2 guards onto the roster relatively soon and then they’ll wait for a 3rd. You’ll hear about both guards soon and I think Alvarado, Hardy, Zegs, and Mintz are there for that last spot.
