What Does Cal Actually Do?

We’ve all noticed lately that his recruiting goes the way of his assistants and he doesn’t seem to call recruits much himself. (Maybe the not calling himself is a rumor? Maybe he preferred in person and coronavirus stopped that?)

We’ve definitely learned from the departures of Strickland, Antigua, and Payne that it was principally not Cal himself but rather key assistants who mostly did the player development magic.

We’ve always said he didn’t really do Xs and Os and we give him a pass on that.

So that leaves….teaching man-to-man switching D and sort of an offense? And marketing?

Anything else?

I think you are falling victim to taking each factor in a vacuum. He has a say in how everything works, he also has the luxury of letting assistants do a lot of the duties he did in the past because his legacy has gotten him there. You don't accidentally become the Kentucky coach. Imagine asking why Jeff Bezos doesn't manage the Amazon warehouse anymore.

With that being said, I believe the past year has made Cal realize he will have to be a bit more hands on if he wants to continue the successful career he has had.

There is no CEO on the planet that does the dirty work. They plan, delegate and listen. Who Cal personally recruits, develops, has heart to heart conversations with is irrelevant.

Just when I think our unrealistic fans can't get any dumber....they somehow manage to out do themselves. There have been many laughable threads lately, this takes the cake. He got in the Hall of Fame doing nothing.

I really really wish the closet racist, unrealistic, uneducated segment of our fans base would become UT or lil bro fans. I'm so tired of being embarrassed by fellow UK fans. Its beyond frustrating to be lumped with these morons.

But Cal does do that a LOT !
Yes, Cal does yell a lot. Too much I think. I was really referring to the guys first post. He posted the yelling post almost as an attachment. I should have been more careful in directing my reply to the correct post .

You guys are only making yourselves look stupid. All I did is take all the things that most people here say Cal doesn’t do and lay em end to end.

Seems like we will be adding TyTy Washington, Jose Alvarado, and CJ Frederick.

That would be our most experienced team since 2007 to go along with a lot of young talent.
