Watching pregame warmups all we do is a dunk contest like the Harlem Globetrotters. Then we have Hyatt missing a wide open layup breakaway. Good thing he was practicing his between the legs dunks in warmups.
Pathetic

Why do you ****ing morons keep thinking that you magically teach supposed D1 basketball players to shoot the three at practice. This **** is absolutely Pikiell’s fault but it’s because he recruited this merry band of idiots, not because of the coaching.

If not for this magical recruiting haul aided by NIL from out of nowhere, he’d be on the hot seat. His recruiting had been abysmal. Oskar, Dean, Jaden, Jalen, Wolf, Simpson…just terrible. He’s allergic to guys that can actually put the ball in the basket.

He needs to bring a free throw shooting coach in. Davis and Williams are guards and their shots aren’t even close.

This is absolutely true. Layup line is a Dunking drill. When doing the shoot around every one is taking 3 pt shots. How often in a game are 3 pt shots taken and how often in a game is someone dunking a contested layup. Practice what actually occurs in a game.
One other thing, I've watched other teams in their pre-game warm ups. They have the managers rebounding the balls and feeding the players taking the shots. And those players are the ones that will play in the game. Bench players shouldn't be taking practice shots away from those who will be playing in the game.

He wouldn’t be on the hot seat . This is Rutgers. . He would need 3 straight losing seasons to get on the seat

It's both. This roster is really bad but getting the 300th offense out of it is a joke. Only Notre Dame's is worse among high-major teams and their rotation is almost entirely freshmen and sophomores.

Yes, 3 pointers are taken in a game but they absolutely are taking mostly those shots in warm ups and they are not taking enough short range shots. That is my point.

They’re shooting around for hours before the game. You think the 20 shots you see them putting up after the fans are in the building are the reason they aren’t making shots during the game? They’re just bad shooters.

I enter the building when the doors are opened 1 hr before the tip. I see what they are doing and I also see what our opponents are doing. Bad shooters are usually the ones that are not practicing the shots that they will make more often in a game.

I would like to know if all these haphazard, heavily contested drives to hoop are successful in practice.

Are Davis, Noah, Simpson and Williams not getting blocked in practice?
Just easily scoring over our defense?

They should have to try these shots against Clif and see the results.
He'd have a field day.

I know it was only one play but not sure I'll ever get "Davis doesn't have the numbers. He's going anyway." out of my head.

We clearly practice defensive rotations and strategy a lot more than we do offense. I keep saying the same thing. Basketball is an easy game. We make it look so hard on offense.

The fact we can't get open shots even somewhat routinely is an indictment on coaching. We dribble way too much, don't move pieces around, when we get the ball in the post we have a very challenging time moving it out after the D collapses. It's all so putrid. Running an offense where you get looks isn't difficult.

Now making those shots is where player skill comes in which we clearly lack too. There is red lights flashing everywhere and it was obvious the first time I saw this team play.
