For Miss State to finish 5-7, lose the Egg Bowl, and JoMo doesn't return next year-

Or

For Miss State to finish 6-6, win the Egg Bowl, and JoMo is roaming the sidelines for State in 2020-

I feel many here want JoMo not to return next season...that Cohen is delaying the inevitable. Just curious about this scenario

I personally would like to see him win those games and get next season to recruit and gain momentum with his quarterback, considering all the bad luck this year. But if he can't win those games, then he's just not a good coach.

Wanting is the easy question to answer: 6-6. Win the Egg Bowl. Back in 2020.

Expecting though can be something different.

i want him to win and be successful and find an offensive identity that works and puts up lots of points. Now whether or not he figures it out to and gets an identity to make it to 6-6 I don't know, but doesn't look promising at all so far this year.

no doubt i take 6-6 at this point. if we are in the same boat 2 or 3 years from now and we still barely getting by then i would take 5-7 option. Man after the last decade it makes you realize how easy it is to get to 6-6. i remember the Croom years 6 wins seemed impossible

6-6 , Egg Bowl and bowl win but with a caveat if he hangs around. We get out the checkbook and surround Moorhead with the best coaching staff (S&C coach etc) we can buy until he can learn to be a head coach. He needs a lot of help if he's ever going to be a success at MSU. He's far far from being a good HC at this point.

If we go 5-7, the only way JoMo doesn't return is if he leaves voluntarily, and if he can find a landing spot at 5-7, he can find a landing spot at 6-6, so there is no point in hoping/wanting anything other than we win out.

^^^This is the correct answer whether we go 5-7 or 6-6. Moorhead needs help and before we go spend a few million dollars buying out the current staff, we should try to spend another million or so upgrading his staff. I think an ex head coach helping out could do wonders for moorhead.

I have to agree with baseball and johnson. He needs an OC. He did not replace Getsy. Should have. Also I would look at an offensive line coach too. The line is terrible. Take a real hard look at S&C too. He ain't getting it done. We had several key personnel leave last year. We need to have as little change as possible when we get the right guys. I'm not in the change the head coach camp. It may come to that cause I'm not digging struggling for 6 and 6 either. But I think Joe has had more than his share of curve balls thrown at him, esp considering he is in the toughest division in football.

From hearing Joe talk every since he been here about his world-saving RPO attack, I really don't think he wants a OC. He still thinks he needs to rebuild, he's tearing it to nothing... I've said it before,, if the bleeding don't after this season or sooner, we will be toast for years people....

I don't see what spending more money on staff is going to do for us. If your brain surgeon sucks at brain surgery, you don't keep using him and say that you'll get better nurses and anesthesiologists to help him out. You find a new brain surgeon.

Turning down help from an OC would be stupid. He can find a like minded guy to help him coach that side of the ball. He needs to manage every phase a little more. Now that he has stopped playing musical QBs if he could get more production out of the offensive line I think the offense would be decent and the D is coming around. Our young DT are improving and Shoop will fix that side of the ball.

How about I want us to play hard, represent, put a hat on somebody, and not focus on letting decision trees - such as this - this become the narrative?

I would love for Joe to get us to 6-6, figure out an offensive identity, and return next year with some help at OC, a new S&C coach, and a special teams coach that doesn’t make us look like a three ring circus.

Decision tree?

This is a State message board and I just asked to choose between two scenarios.

**Nobody on this message board wants these scenarios including myself**

We all want this team to play hard. I wasn't asking what everyone wants...we all want Bulldog success. I was just asking if you had to choose between the two scenarios (that no one wanted before the season began) which one would you take at this point after 7 games into the season.

When you say "This is State message board," what is that supposed to mean?

As for the two scenarios, it's like choosing between suffocating or drowning.

This ☝🏻 I am not sure exactly what the Coaching Staff budget is including Head Coach to off the field recruiting coordinators, but even if it is not $10 million, it should be at a minimum.

3.5 for Head
1.0 for O-Coordinator(yes, Cohen should require it). 1.0 for D-Coordinator. 500,000 for QB/Passing Game. And the other $4 million for the remaining staff. So, $3.5 mill is the most Moorhead should get even if he gets another year by going 6-6(7-6) after the bowl win. No extension without beating 2 of A&M, Arkansas or Ole Miss beyond next year, and next year he needs to have a set win total set for survival at no less than 7 regular season wins. If he doesn’t agree to that, Cohen should tell him Jersey is lovely this time of year. Hope you enjoy it in 2020.

Win Egg Bowl. Keep bowl game streak alive (Liberty Bowl would be fine by me) Hire a sho nuff fire breathing m-f’er of a Strength & Conditioning coach. Become a bit of a fire breathing m-f’er himself.

Finish 6-6 with a win in the Egg Bowl and a win in the bowl game to go 7-6.

Next year with an extremely young team having another year under their belt go 7-5/8-4 with another bowl win and I’m happy.

I almost wouldn't mind 6-6 with an egg bowl loss. If we have to keep JoMo another year, I at least want Ole Miss to give Matt Luke an extension.. Last thing we need is for them to go hire a real coach after we come off a down year and keep our guy.

I don't think he needs an OC. As unprepared as we have looked, how terrible we have looked at doing the little things, and how weak we have looked at S&C, I think he needs a hard nosed assistant head coach, preferably with prior head coach experience, that can run practices, oversee discipline, oversee the S&C coach, special teams, and generally free up Moorhead to focus on gameplanning, being OC, and recruiting. Basically instead of the CEO model of head coach, we'd have the CTO or chief strategy model of head coach. Moorhead outlines overall strategy, but then the assistant head coach is in charge of the implementation with the exception that Moorhead has responsibility for the offense, offensive gameplanning, and is heavily involved in recruiting.

Maybe Joe should do the off season conditioning with the team, you know, so he can get the **** kicked out of him daily in the weight room to save him from the message board *** kicking he takes the other 8 months of the year.
