So a lot on and off the field this week.

1 - That Providence missed its coach or Naz is that good - discuss
2 - That St Ignatius is a thing.
3 - That we aren’t talking about Conant or Wheaton North. Maybe we should.
4 - That there is a major scheduling problem in the smaller classes
5 - That the Zion thing was cute and all but……
6 - That this whole playoff expansion thing is turning out to be a real bad idea
7 - That one day, a long time ago, Rockford Boylan was good.
8 - That something happened to Prairie Ridge
9 - That 5 years ago they didn’t have a varsity team and now Riverdale is 5-0
10 - That the state said yes and ESL will play up.

1. Had Naz winning either way. Just maybe not as conviningly and with 3 INTs on the Provi box score.
2. Ignatius is solid. Another team benefiting from getting their next generation playing experience in the previous year's Prep Bowl Playoffs. If you don't believe me, look at the recent history. Going to be interesting to see if the new playoff format puts the nail in the Prep Bowl coffin.
6. I'm withholding judgement until I see how it plays out, especially if STL ends up qualifying with 3 or 4 wins. I do anticipate a river of public tears after the first two rounds, which will likely make this a 1 year deal.

You think there will be 8-1/9-0 teams getting running clocked by 3-6??
That maybe might happen but I doubt it’s more than a once or twice across all the classes. Probably zero.

100 percent. Happens to a handful of CPS schools every year even under the old system. What's going to happen when 9-0/8-1 Oak Lawn/Antioch/TF North/Plainfield (East, North, South)/Riverside Brookfield/etc... draws a 4-6/5-5 CCL school in round 2.

The original post specifically referred to 3-6 teams beating 8-1/9-0 teams - by running clock.

My contention is that the particular scenario described will not happen frequently - not because the the 8-1/9-0 teams are any good, rather - because the situation simply won’t present itself very often.

I doubt any of the Plainfields finish 8-1 or better. I see 7-2 best case for them. Some of the other teams you listed may finish 8-1, but most of them are far from guaranteed.

I have no doubt that we could cherry pick the 3-6/2-7 teams from the CCL and hypothetically match them vs some random 8-1/9-0 teams that would result in running clock wins for the CCL.

4... This season... Yep!!! Hopefully there are enough smart people in Illinois to end this joke of a participation playoff they have this season!!!

I don’t mean to open a can of worms but can someone briefly explain who actually voted for this as it was near unanimous In favor for expansion? I don’t understand because most coaches DID NOT want it, who actually voted Pro? The ADs? What do they stand to gain from it?

The coaches don't vote on it and I understand the AD/Admin at your football powers for sure got input from HCs but I assume many AD/Admins didn't care and voted yes. At the end of the day it's not a life and death situation here, it's more teams in the playoffs, we will all be ok.

It's mostly principals , with a few AD's thrown in. And in some smaller schools the AD and the coach are one and the same
