Where’s the mannix(sp?) football thread? Sps tweeted about it, but it’s now gone as well. Did some ******* ruin it?

I posted in it and nothing was bad in the entire thread at that point. I went to bump it for you, but it's not in my history.

SURELY nobody found some fault in that! WTH????

Maybe it's being edited for the sake of anonymity? It was a moving post that put a human face on some of the real life consequences of canceling Fall sports. I hope the mods find a way to put it back up on the board.

I just wanted to say thank you guys for interest, but it was pointed out to me that I got too personal and some of the references directly to a particular school or school district without media approval can result in immediate termination. I am honestly thinking about putting up a similar post with all the direct stuff taken out. As I told dawg student I stand by what I said, but I was not expecting it to end up on Twitter and without approval that kind of thing can create a huge problem for me.

Chris Mannix I read your post while sitting on the couch yesterday. It hit home with me. I actually handed my phone to my wife, who has no interest in sports, and she said “that post tells the truth better than any I’ve seen”. She doesn’t know squat about football, but knows the troubles of our local city schools in rural Mississippi and the struggles these kids face. These are truths that get swept under the rug by politicians and by those with other options. Thank God for people like you that are willing to stand in and fight the good fight. Keep your head up and know that What you said was the truth, and you should never have to apologize for that.

I was hoping the other posters in that thread would edit their quotes after seeing your edit, but DS took care of it.

And for any heartless monster looking to make trouble for you because of that post should take into consideration what it meant that you likely had the top 5 most bipartisan, upvoted post in SPS history, especially considering how short lived the thread was, and what a divisive covid/political shitshow SPS has been for months.

It the limited amount of time that thread was up, I really was moved by the amount of people that reached out. I am honestly debating with my wife at the moment whether to put a similar post only edited to protect our privacy and my job. I would love for that version of my story to get out.

Is that something you guys would like to see?

I've supported Fall sports being played for a couple months now, particularly since the Premier league proved it can be done. But a lot of my want was for selfish reasons. Your post made it abundantly clear how important a role sports can play not just in the kid's lives, but also for the livelihood of the community. Much respect, man.

Yes.

It is a 17ing shame that you can only express an opinion about the virus that falls within the media/social party line. I loved your original post and am sorry that the message got lost because people would worry about who you are and possibly cause you problems.

If your post had been in complete support of the shrill mob's beliefs you would have been the poster boy of social media today.

Yes. Your boots are on the ground and your word should carry more weight than some other hack journalistically... agenda driven, hit piece...which is likely to come from this.

Keep your head up and demand haters look you in the eye while engaging. It’s amazing the energy and communication that can be facilitated through looking a man/women into their eyes. Also, don’t get carried away with the comments.

Post what’s in your heart and walk away for a couple of days....just leave the school out of it. I would mention that it’s in MS to give it context.

But honestly, when kids are getting 17ed over....context is not really needed.

Chris, IMO getting people involved who "get it" such as yourself is never a bad thing. Go for it and let us know how we can support you.

After thinking about it I have realized that I just want to take a step back, and not make anymore waves. My frustrations and emotions were real, and so is the reality that by not handling them properly I could lose my ability to serve my students. I would like to say thank you again for the all kind words, and I think instead of venting on sixpack I am going to get up in the morning and go back to serving my students knowing that it is what is best for me. I do want to say to everybody on here know that your kid’s teachers and coaches are going through similar things right now, and that many of us want nothing more than to serve our babies because we know they need us.
