What could Bamba be waiting on?

IMO only two things:
1) he is truly torn and still deciding
2) the right time for an attention / media spot ligjt (espn cant slot his announcement until a certain time or he is waiting on a slow news day in sports).

Some of you might be saying he is waiting on early entrants to decide if they are coming back but of the 4 teams he is considering all the bigs have already made their decision (bam at uk, allen at TX, Bolden and Jeter at duke) so there is no Potential for his PT to be takrn away by someone returning because they arent coming back...so it cant be for guys to make their decision unless he is waiting on who comes back and which team has best shot at title? Or which team he will be featured player?

Persoanlly I think he is still torn and weighing his options. He doesnt seem like someone who needs the spotlight.

He really seems close with Smart.I hope he doesn't choose Texas because he thinks Smart's job is in trouble and he could help him keep it.

The point I'd make to a gifted student like Mo is that the games aren't where you grow as a player, just like tests aren't where you learn your course material. You learn by studying, and you grow as a player by practicing. The games are like tests - they're where you prove what you've learned. If you go to Texas, who is going to force you to grow in practice? At Kentucky, you'll square off against Richards, SKJ, Gabriel, Knox, Washington, and Vanderbilt every day. Even Wynyard was a top 100 PF with size.

As a OAD, you only have six months to get your game NBA-ready, and that adjustment is by far the hardest for teenage bigs who are used to playing with a significant size advantage. If you want to "study hard" for the pros, there is no contest.

Looks like Bamba's commencement ceremonies are on June 10th. So if he is wanting to involve his high school in his decision then it will happen before then. Or he could be so focused on final exams that he is waiting until after commencement to decide.

Who knows really? I'm surprised that UK fans put themselves through this every summer. Bamba or no Bamba we will be fine.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that duke was getting some traction lately then a few days’ later Jeter transfers. All are saying UK and Texas and my gut says UK and duke

Not true at all. If a championship is your goal, then we need an elite rim protector. I love these people that think that a player the caliber of Bamba is of no consequence because we are already so loaded..lol....According to some on here, bring on those warriors already baby!!

No, some of us just take the approach that we can't control which kids commit and which won't, and that we will support the team either way.

Adam Zagoria hinted at the same thing today. He seems to think Duke is definitely still involved.

Fine?
Yeah, probably elite eight fine, but no Bamba, no championship. We'll be a player short yet again.

#2 is not it as he doesn't like attention. When he announces everyone has said (who would know) he will just randomly tweet it most likely. He isn't going to make a big hoopla about it . They say he doesn't like to disappiont people so I imagine he knows he needs to go to UK but he is finding it hard to tell Smart this so he is going to wait til the last minute to do so . That's how I read the situation.

Excellent point and I suspect Cal makes that pitch regularly.

The fact that anyone on this board worries about recruiting after all these years...good Lord, didn't Knox do anything to calm your nerves?

Its interesting Duke announced their spring signing class today. Would suggest they don't expect any additional recruits, however I'm sure they would welcome Bamba as a surprise.

Bamba is close with the coaching staffs of UK and Texas and is having a hard time telling one of them no thanks. He's closest to Smart so I'm thinking Bamba wants UK but is having the hard time telling Smart toodaloo

He's made it sound he's not planning to decide until well into June. He doesn't seem like the type who wants attention, and by now I can't imagine he doesn't know where he's going. Why he would wait another month to tell everyone else, don't have the foggiest clue.

He mentioned a little while back that he and Capel text all the time. After what happened with Knox, I can imagine where Capel is telling Bamba to go.

So...are you a Duke fan or a UK fan???

Heard some of these ideas before but this is probably the most solid written explanation that could possibly be offered to Bamba. Wish you could send it to him and really make him think hard about where would be the most beneficial school for him to be for his one year of college. Great post, DerekMcPwn!!!!!

Bamba is waiting on Diallo. If Diallo hires an agent Bamba will lift our spirits. If Diallo returns, it's a late as possible double whammy.

I don't know about the not wanting attention part. He said something about wanting to make such an impact the school names something after him. That doesn't seem like a shrinking violet.

Starting to seem more and more like this isn't true. The insiders talking behind the scenes seem to think it's UK or Duke.
Experts do not know crap on this young man. He knows and maybe his parents, but, anyone else other than possibly the UK coaching staff is pure BS.

That also doesn't sound like UK.

Sounds like Texas. I have no doubts the thought of saving Shaka's job is weighing on his mind. It shouldn't be, but I bet it is. That and being the savior of the program.....and getting a monument named after him.

Somebody talk some sense into the kid. He needs to enter the league with instant big-man friends in Davis, Boogie, Towns, Noel, etc...

It's probably because he's telling Texas and UK that he's going to UConn ;)

That's him with Emeka Okafor and Mamadou Diarra (2016 UConn recruit from the city).

And no I don't think he's coming to UConn it was just pretty cool that he's working out with them and gave the huskies a shout out.

As I said several months ago there is no suspense with Bambas recruitment. He's going to UK. Green, Diallo, and Bamba planned this since their time on the U18 USA team.

One reason he may be extending this is to give Smart and Texas program some good press as the team "that almost" took Bamba from UK. He's not going to Texas, and he's not going to any other school not named University of Kentucky.

Why do I not have a great feeling about Bamba? It seems like everyone he is good friends with is going to UK from Green to Diallo to Knox and Vanderbilt. Texas won't have a shot at a title if he goes there. If you're one and done why wouldn't you want to play for a title in your only college season. I firmly believe the Cats are already a big favorite and would probably be an overwhelming favorite to win the title if Bamba were to go there.

What is he waiting on? It seems like the ultimate 'no-brainer'. Ahh, trying to figure out what a teenager is thinking. I'm sure if I could go back in time and see myself as a teenager I probably wouldn't understand my own thought processes either. Until then I guess I will just trust in Cal (see Knox commitment as exhibit A).

Huge difference...one is for what he could do and the other is for what he would do. Before and after his carreer...
