An improved D-Line & holding teams under 23 points per game.
Wow.....do you really think the blackshirts are going to seriously upgrade this year? If so, I sure hope you're on the money!
Well I think we gave up like 30 a game last year and our D was as terrible as it gets. I don't think improving by a touchdown is that far fetched based on upgrades in S&C and talent. I'm talking the average as well at 23 points. Some will be better, and obviously some games that will be worse.
IMHO, we need to go at least 9-3 in the regular season and finish top two of the west.
Anything less than that will be considered ‘disappointing’ to me.
I think this team has the talent and coaching to compete with, and beat, just about everyone on our schedule this year.
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE SEASON TO START!!!
Exactly why I had the ‘and finish top two in the west’ caveat along with my 9-3 record9-3 means nothing if you go 3-0 in out of conference and go 6-3 in the league. Look at Northwestern last year, they were 0-3 out of the league and 8-1 in the league, 8-2 if you count the CCG, and finished 9-5. Meh overall record but won the division.
That being said, I think 2 conference losses can still win the west. But conference schedule will be the determining factor not overall record.
Win the division.
Compete well in the CCG.
#44 from Colorado gets his while getting blown off their home field.

Not sure about 23 ppg, but I do agree our D was so horrible last year (33 ppg), that I have a feeling we take a good sized jump. As we all know our offense is pretty good. The word from spring ball and through most of fall camp is the D is either getting the better of out offense or is holding its own. So either that means our offense isn't going to be as good as we think or the D has made significant improvements from last Nov.An improved D-Line & holding teams under 23 points per game.
#44 will only see the field in the event of injury or on special teams.

I think bare min we need to be a top 50 D every year. When looking at other BIG10 teams, Michigan, Iowa, Michigan St and Penn St all had top 20 D last year. Wisc, NW, and Ohio St had top 50. Those who didn't have a top 50 D. Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Illinois, Maryland, Indiana, Rutgers. We do not want to be hanging out in this group for long.
