Most of Chief of War was shot in New Zealand.

Really? well that sucks. Kinda odd considering that a decent amount of movies and tv shows are/were filmed in Hawaii. So it’s not like the islands do not have the infrastructure for filming crews and operations.
Also, it seems like they were trying to be pretty authentic by having so much of the dialogue being in the Hawaiian language. I would figure they would want to shoot on authentic locations as well.
Either way, I’ve been to Hawaii 6 times and they’ve had me fooled. So good for them I guess

For a 2hr 45min movie it definitely did not feel like it dragged on. Leo and Penn were great in their roles. A lot of action with some well timed humor. It’s a timely movie based on current events. You will also add “Seaman Demon” to your vocabulary after watching it LOL. Different spelling to get past censors.
