What an awful challenge

I’m speechless. Why would you challenge that and effectively end the game?

The video was crystal clear. We touched the ball first. Wow. At least we might of gotten one or two plays in. That was unbelievable.

Whoever is the person that tells Leach to challenge or not challenge shouldn’t be allowed to ever see another football game.

Two LSU players blocked before the ball traveled 10 yds. Probably why he challenged. Of course, the refs called that on us last week. But it is LSU. Just let it slide

With all the 17 ups in this game you are going to complain about this?

It was already over. We don't have an 80 yards with 20 seconds left play. He was just wishing.

We didn’t need 80 yards. Most likely needed only 40-50. And 20 seconds is time for 4 plays, not one.

That’s not a reviewable penalty. Leach has to know that. They can only review whether LSU touched the ball first or not, or whether the ball traveled 10 yards. It was plainly obvious that no one from LSU came close to touching it and that the ball only traveled about 6 yards before being touched, so it was dumb as hell to challenge.

They can review if the kicking team blocked the receiving team. I honestly wondered if he was confused about the rule. He may also have just thought it was our only chance to win so took a shot

I was yelling to review and am glad Leach did. It looked like the LSU player hit the ball when he blocked Woody.

The no-blocking rule only applies to the kicking team. No member of the kicking team may block a player on the receiving team before either (a) the ball travels ten yards, or (b) the ball is touched by the receiving team.

Can't block a player into the ball, which happened, however I bet the refs decided that the ball was gonna touch him first, regardless and that it did not touch the LSU guy first. I was glad he challenged. I figure best case, we have one play, if we force a 3 and out.

The challenge is a week late.

Exactly what I was thinking at the time. I am still just astounded that the Memphis punt return was allowed to stand by the refs, replay officials, and our entire coaching staff. Why is it that these kinds of things seem to never happen to anyone but MSU? And then, as if to rub salt in the wounds, Auburn wins the very next week because of terrible officiating.
