Correct.

I didn’t love the hire Bc I wanted to clone Mullen but dedicated to MSU.

But I have seen reason to believe it will work when we don’t have the youngest team in most of football.

So if he threw the ball for 271 yards at 12 yards an attempt snd we rushed for 213 ish yards would that be better? Or would it be the exact same.

Rogers unquestionably has the talent to run this system. He’s just young.

MSU fans are wanting him to lead the country in passing after starts 7, 8, 9 and 10. Instead, he’s 3rd.

He is career projection right now is not an issue.

If people would relax and give **** time to grow they'll see by year 4 given we have someone with a better arm than me at QB, we're clear cut top 2 in this division and a top 10 team in the nation. **** wasn't gonna change overnight, but damn it's changing faster than I thought it would and if you changed our jerseys to be that of LSU or Alabama then we'd be on a 6-game winning streak.
Do you want to know why? It's because we started this transition from a 'running team' to a 'passing team' in 2018. We can argue all day whether we should have done it, but we did. So we're technically in year 4 of that rebuild. I'll say year 3 because of the COVID year. And yeah, it's easy to see that we're nearly there, and probably WILL be there next year.

I'll give Cohen credit for the Leach hire.....after the Moorlosses debacle. And I personally want to see if a pass happy scheme will work at State. If it doesn't, we'll get back to running the ball and playing defense. But it was definitely worth a try. I hate that it cost us a 10-2 year in 2018, but oh well, we'd have just finished behind Bama anyway.

Best case scenario....Leach gets this up and running and stays until he wants to quit, then we hire some young guy with a ton of energy who runs a more modern Air Raid. Then, MAYBE the program will be changed forever.....

To Be Continued....

I am a little concerned about his arm strength though. I do think he can offset that once he starts making quicker decisions.

I'll say this....he's not a prototypical SEC QB, but damn the guy just keeps battling and keeps finding himself in starting positions. Mr. Pac-12 and Mr. Senior C-USA have come and gone, and Rogers is still standing. We'll see what happens next year with Mr. 4 Star All-Texas Lance Harbor wannabe and whoever the next transfer QB is, but I'd wager that Rogers will still be there towing the line in September 2022.

Fair take. But I think it also can't be understated how quickly we've seen a culture flip and are an above average MSU team relative to competition with such a below average experience all around. The foundation is clearly there and it's being poured correctly. Coaching scheme on both sides is working. Blown assignments, arm talent, and QB timidness are the 3 things holding us back. For the first time in 20 years I have full faith that the coaching staff knows what they're doing and won't be a mental midget against anyone.

Far and away our biggest issue offensively is we have little to no big play ability. We are currently only ahead of Vandy in the SEC in terms of 30+ and 40+ yard plays from scrimmage.

How do we do that? IMO, by punishing teams for putting six DBs on the field. Give the ball to Dillon Johnson for 8 yards every time you see a four man box. Then push the ball downfield.

This should lead to big plays and also give our receivers and backs some room to run after the catch. Leach has forgotten more about football than I will ever know, and it’s his job to figure it out.

One thing that gives me hope is WSU had these same issues in his second year there, and they came out just fine. WSU finished only ahead of Colorado in the Pac 12 in 20+ and 30+ yard plays.

Our QB is currently 3rd in the nation in yards. Let that sink in for a minute. 3rd in the entire country. We’ve NEVER had that at this school.

Yes, our record isn’t great. Yes you can argue that we realistically should be 4-0.

My point is, we are so close. Like, one or two plays TOTAL to being 4-0.

Will we beat Bama, absolutely not. But, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to see us 7-5 by the end of the year.

When stats are more important than winning football games. I'm guessing you were for all players getting trophies.

You are wrong, bro. People are telling you, nobody cares what his passing stats are when it is 95% of our offense and we barely average 20 points a game.

At this point it is inevitable that Rogers will most likely lead the SEC in passing and in the top 5-10 in the nation. But when he has 500 more pass attempts than the guy below him and we have 3 or 4 wins, what does it matter??

Kind of like Dixon was our only offense under Croom and had a crap ton of yards but nothing to really show for it. It's the same thing.

Will is 10th in the SEC in QBR and not in the top 50 nationally.

Will he get better? Yes. Is he effective right now? Stats say no.

We were 112th nationally in pass play percentage in 2018, 113th in 2019. And in both years put together, we were trailing heavily in over half our SEC games, too. Hell, Kylin Hill had almost 2 more rushing attempts per game in 2019 than the next closest RB in the SEC.

This narrative that Moorhead was transitioning us to a pass-first offense is just 100% false.

Quite frankly, I think this MSU team has a chance to close strong and surprise some people. I think the Memphis loss and LSU loss could both really haunt you as far as “what might have been”. My concerns, if I was an MSU fan would be recruiting and asking if the current rosters will be the most talented he has? Certainly the future rosters may fit better, which matters a lot. But will the overall talent level maintain or increase? That’s what will determine Leach’s ceiling.

Who would have thought that a rebel fan’s biggest concern was recruiting?

C'mon dude. That's patronizing.

There's a chance that our sun will explode in a supernova before sunrise tomorrow . . . but the chance that actually occurs is negligible.

Nope, it's 100% true. His goal was to throw to set up everything else. Practices were full of, "we have to transition from road graders to pass protectors", etc.

Budaw, why don't you use your brain for once and try and figure out WHY our percentages were the way they were. You were here. You know. Could it be that Slopface finally stopped swimming upstream with the personnel he had? Of course it was, but make no mistake, that's only because he got so much heat. His goal was still to have his RPO passing crap installed by 2020 and 2021, with Garrett Shrader running it. And that explains how awful Sloppy was.....he convinced everybody in Starkville that Shrader was going to come here and set passing records, then when he got here, he was another Fitzgerald. I think that's honestly when Cohen knew he had to get rid of the guy.

Your 'stats' lie to you. Badly. It's about intent, not what happened on the field once Moorlosses got desperate. You're not stupid, you're smart enough to see this if you'll open your eyes.

I'm sure your next move will be to quote some Penn State stats or whatever. The facts are still the same, Slophead wanted the pass to set up the run (and everything else). "Downfield shots, downfield shots", is all we heard in spring 2018, and I knew then we were headed for disaster.

Lol, I truly believe that. I feel like the next 3-4 weeks will determine Leach’s career at MSU. He’s at a teetering point. If he gets it going, and they start executing and win, it can start rolling. If they continue to look like they have most of these first 4 weeks, and a lot of last year, he’s going to lose the locker room and fan base. I think y’all get a couple big wins, starting in College Station on Saturday.

It's really not that far fetched. We just have to stop being stupid and we're a team that should be 4-0. If we play to our potential, we're certainly not a top-ten team, but we could get to 6-6 or 7-5. I'm skeptical we actually pull it together because usually teams that repeatedly make game changing, stupid mistakes do that because they are poorly coached and/or stupid and they continue to be poorly coached and/or stupid. But Leach's teams usually aren't poorly coached, so I don't think people that disagree or crazy or unreasonable. Just overly optimistic.

I am expecting us to continue to move the ball against 3 man fronts and look like a better version of what we are now. We're going to continue to move the ball against essentially bend-but-don't-break defenses, we're going to get better at getting to the redzone without shooting ourselves in the foot, but we're ultimately not going to improve in scoring enough to make a difference record wise. Hopefully I'm wrong and the optimists are right.
