Even though he broke records last season, has earned preseason Heisman buzz and is largely the reason so many are incredibly high on the Huskers heading into 2019, sophomore quarterback Adrian Martinez has stuff to work on same as everyone else. A 2,617-yard passing, 789-yard rushing, 25-touchdown true freshman campaign is just the starting point. Is it a super duper high starting point? You bet. That just means the ceiling for the kid is higher, and no, he hasn’t hit his ceiling.

Not even close. The biggest thing with Martinez in Year 2 will be ball security.

Check out the list of the number changes we noticed, in no particular order:
Nebraska is two and a half weeks away from the start of fall camp. The Huskers open camp on Friday, Aug. 2. As that date gets closer, we’re getting a glimpse at the numbers Nebraska’s incoming players will wear this season.

At Sunday’s sixth-annual Nebraska Football Road Race, the new Huskers debuted their new numbers for the crowd. Nebraska’s roster has not been updated on the team’s roster page.

There are 49 players currently on the roster without assigned numbers. Other players on the roster could switch numbers too. Redshirt freshman running back Miles Jones, for instance, has swapped his jersey number from No. 26 to No. 22. The number was previously worn by Devine Ozigbo.
RB Rahmir Johnson, No. 6

LB Jackson Hannah, No. 10

OL Bryce Benhart, No. 54

WR Darien Chase, No. 13

RB Ronald Thompkins, No. 25

LB Jamin Graham, No. 89

OL Matthew Anderson, No. 72

WR Demariyon Houston, No. 9

DB Noa Pola-Gates, No. 26

DB Quinton Newsome, No. 12
DL Mosai Newsom, No. 52

DL Ty Robinson, No. 99 https://hailvarsity.com/s/7261/new-huskers-debut-new-numbers-at-road-race
DB Javin Wright, No. 33

Working on ball security always is a given for any who handle the ball. You always have to start there. Personally I think the biggest thing for Adrian to work on is reading defenses and finding other options for his passes when the first choice is covered (eg. unloading the ball to those tight ends).

Ball security and success goes hand in hand.
AMs concentration down field is very good, but he often ignores looping defenders,or,those breaking blocks behind him.
Having more pocket presence and having those TEs getting downfield as has been mentioned, plus other options will fix this.
As the entire team gets better, so should he,in turnovers and success.

Makes sense, that was his only real knock. I had a feeling coach V, Walters and Frost would be working on that with him all summer long. Shore that up and Martinez will literally have no weakness’s. Just like A Green, he also had fumble issues and got it fixed. I have no doubt that’s one area that’s been worked on nonstop this summer. GBR

rythm, with improved line blocking he will know where and when recievers are coming open not first just running from the rush. the offense will run more and more like a coordinated machine much like UCF did in Frost's second year.

I thought I read somewhere he was considerably bigger this year if he kept his speed and has gotten bigger I wouldn't mind seeing him taking off running whenever to pass isn't there

I don't think ball security is a big issue with him. Yeah he was a true freshman last year and was a little careless with the ball at times, but he will get that shored up. The biggest thing he will need to work on is seeing more of the field and continuing to make better decisions. If he continues to improve his decision making, he will be a contender for a Heisman for sure.
