I am seeing quite a few 1A schools that don't have a football program. Not sure about 2A thru 7A

One would think that they would try to balance things out and have an equal number of schools per class if possible.

The number of non-football schools drops drastically from 3A to 7A.

GrizzlyDevil is using his own 6A proposal, not this 7A, what if it passes? It looks to be the ADMs previous to 2022 - 2023.​

Mount Airy was at 509 then.

If I'm counting correctly, there are only 24 schools in 1A that field 11-man football. Columbia and Mattamuskeet have gone to 8-man football. Not sure about Bear Grass Charter (11 or 8). Cape Hatteras offered football at one time, but has not in at least 5 years.

They need to go 80 in 1a and divide the rest equal. That would be 460 in 1a and add 10 or 12 more football teams. Still would only be 37 or so football teams.

I think 5-6 classes is the way to go now with the ability to expand as the state grows. Mainly due to the lesser of 2 evils as some of you say taking our tax dollars and giving them like candy to for profit institutions claiming to provide "better options."

It is starting to look like we just need to go back to 1A 1AA thru 4A 4AA which has been tested and works great. The NCHSAA can not get anything down if all the schools won't vote. They need to be forced in some way to vote or only count the votes of schools that do vote and non-voting schools' votes will not count as a no-vote. NCHSAA get something done or the state will take over.

The state is probably taking over no matter what happens here. If the vote fails, they'll frame it as the NCHSAA is incompetent. If it passes, it will be framed as overreach. The legislatures are mad they don't make money off the NCHSAA like they do off these charter operators. They'll find a way to fill their campaign pockets then whoever does that will control and make the decisions for athletics.

Accepting there are 2 evils is the problem. Wanna vote red then make your party find better candidates instead of settling for whatever is pushed. The people have the power, but the people have to stop giving into what their party leaders believe are the best and the people have to stop being lazy.

Go read every single bill filed over the last month in the NCGA then come back and report. You'll be in for a reality check. It's very enlightening to do the research yourself instead of just getting the pick and choose from the news and social media. There is also much more bipartisanship that goes on than led to believe, in many cases good bills too, but because their not reactionary bills and won't get attention, or don't make someone money, many never see the light of day from the farce of leadership in the NCGA.

Go look at campaign donations as well.

Being involved and informed is tiring but it's the only way to know truly what goes on. Sitting and waiting to be told by pickers and choosers isn't the way.

I will never vote for a Democrat again at any level...if they can stay with that woke/liberal mess, their judgement and beliefs are way different than what I want making any decisions local, state, or national. Not a big fan of some Republicans either, but most do think and vote close to right alot of the time.

The concerns are warranted. Many of the things in the bill were already on the books. There is a need for some language cleanup in the bill I believe to ensure no ones rights are violated.

True, as a photographer, I learned anyone can take a picture or video of anything or anyone we can see from any public area. That includes from a public area shooting anything or anyone in public or private view.

I am not sure I would vote to expand with the option being up to seven without seeing what the structure was going to be. I feel good about going to five and would like to see that in place for a four year run before going to possibly six.

It (subdividing to eight) did not / does not work great. Too many teams, as now, in the playoffs for football. Did not address the issue for other non football sports. Does not address the issue of "open enrollment" style schools for smaller classifications.

Looking at that last link, 2a would pretty much be a charter and parochial division. But wow, 1A still lots of non football schools. Not sure how playoffs would work. Still a 2000 student range for 7A and a big % range in 1A. Glad I m not trying to get the right fix. But with all this back and forth, I still see very little change coming as I don’t see enough votes to change anything. Then if they are the legislators will step in and who knows.

Looking at that last link, 2a would pretty much be a charter and parochial division. But wow, 1A still lots of non football schools. Not sure how playoffs would work. Still a 2000 student range for 7A and a big % range in 1A. Glad I m not trying to get the right fix. But with all this back and forth, I still see very little change coming as I don’t see enough votes to change anything. Then if they are the legislators will step in and who knows.

This is where the problem with Raleigh comes into play. They are not familiar with all the little nuances involved with different schools and conference setup. I have been in meetings where a suggestion is made or a request is put forward. A few people very familiar with the geography or other factors will bring up reasons that there will be logistical issues. Things I have never thought of because I am not familiar with the area. It often is not an issue with the schools involved but what will happen with other schools that now indirectly have changes made. Remember two schools wanting to move to a conference to the west of them. Made complete sense but then a conference is left with three schools and their drive to same classification or one larger becomes double to triple what they had. Most folks do not see the "ripple effect" on others when making things perfect for their schools.
