Numerous MSU players kneel or otherwise “protest” during the national anthem if/when football starts? Are you still going to support the team?

I also read this morning that the NCAA has voted to allow teams to wear a patch on their jersey and to change their name on the back of their jersey to express their support of social issues. Curious if this is going to cause some of us to be upset and stop supporting the team.

Very interesting times we are in...

That all depends. I would not be happy with any such behavior nor would I be supportive of any player who displayed it. The game changer for me would be if this behavior was the consensus on the team or was tolerated by the administration.

I hate to tell you guys, but if you want to follow sports from now on, you should probably get used to kneeling. I think it’s reaching the point that not kneeling if you are an athlete is going to be perceived by certain groups as an overt sign of racism. Not that it is, that’s just how it’s going to construed.

I honestly don't understand why anyone cares about this. A. It doesn't affect my life one way or the other. B. If that's how people want to exercise their First Amendment rights to free speech, they are welcome to go nuts. C. It still doesn't affect my life one way or the other.

I wont care. If you can't enjoy sports and/or hollywood entertainment due to the political beliefs of those involved, then you'll have very slim pickings to fill your entertainment needs.

My response is the same as when I see people mixing a drink during the anthem that I know say it’s disrespectful to kneel. I don’t give a ****. As long as KJ is kneeling at the end of the game with the lead. I’m happy.

They care because it's the opposite of free speech.

I wouldn’t have a problem with it if you could exercise your free speech and say your protests are bs. Or if you could put a pro life patch or Jesus saves or any other conservative message. But that is not tolerable by the people who preach tolerance.

Meh, I’m not gonna get caught up one way or another in what the players feel they need to do. The only issue I’ll have is if/when a sport decides to become one giant political movement rather than entertainment, and I don’t envision that happening with college football

I won't notice as my attention will be focused on the flag.

I have better focus than most here it appears.

I learned a long time ago that you will be really disappointed if you try to pick your entertainment based on the creator's personal beliefs. I love the Black Album, but do me and Lars see eye-to-eye on political issues? Probably not. Inspectah Deck's opening on Triumph is one of the greatest verses of all time. Do me and Wu Tang line up on social issues? I doubt it.

There are some lines that are hard to cross. It's difficult to watch the Cosby Show now. But that line is going to be different for everyone.

Continue watching the game as if it doesn't bother me because I'm not some weak minded snowflake that gets triggered at the sight of young people exercising their freedom of speech.

I love Mississippi State and I love watching Mississippi State sports and I really don't give a damn what happens for 30 seconds before the game.

People are missing the points:

1- It's not their personal opinion. It's them bringing it to work and putting it on display in a game where we don't want politics.
2- Not all opinions will be allowed. That translates into a freedom of speech crisis that will bring heated division in our fan base, our teams, and nation.
3- A public university can not legally do that. It means law suits.

And what about those that are not allowed to wear "Support the Blue Line" where their names are?

Has the NCAA come out and said that's not allowed or are you just making up a fictitious strawman to further your persecution complex?

are they going to make me Kneel? Or stand? Or stop serving food and drink at the concession stands?

Then it does not affect me and I don't care....

Yes Drebin.... he is and willfully remains ignorant.

ignorant of what exactly? i'm quite aware that the whole kneeling/BLM business is explicitly about the tendency for police to murder black folks with impunity. i'm also quite aware that the bulk (emphasizing bulk here as in fattest) of posters on a college football message board are opposed to this message for ~obvious reasons~

my response is "the police should stop murdering black folks with impunity"

Do they do that? In one recent case, yes, without a doubt, and the ex-officer is sitting in prison (or jail, since he hasn't been tried yet). Since then, there no doubt been thousands of encounters where no murder happened. Perhaps another solution is for certain black folks to stop doing bad and illegal things to attract the attention of the police.

Who the 17 watches the national anthem on tv? Do we really need patriot police? You're watching a game. Pay homage and respect to your country in your own way on your own time.

That said when I'm at a game, I sing the national anthem at the top of my lungs every chance I get (can't sing worth a damn) and I keep my hand over my heart.

And it never fails, most people in the crowd are muttering, cause they don't even know the words, wearing hats, scratching their balls, ordering coke and popcorn, or making one final run to the *******.

But, hey, it's a free country... you do you and let others do whatever it is they thing they're doing.

And if a player doesn't want to deal with the anthem or wants to kneel or be prostrate, I could care less as long as he's getting ready to fight for Mississippi State. That's what we're paying to watch.
