Multiple scouts at the Shrine Bowl said he was open all day.
Pit broadcasters were glowing about how he was coming out of his breaks on routes.
He will be great in Pittsburgh and looking like he could be a steal.
Don't sleep on Brandon Smith making the roster too. He has been good in camp and looked good last night
Ok great. Positive things to hear about KW.

But it doesn't change how silly fan complaints were that Iowa didn't use him properly

Wetjen benefited from poor pass coverage. On the long pass play he was open in part because the DB covering him fell down. He sure knows what to do in the open field. It is still TBD, though, whether he can continue to progress as a WR in his consistency and route-running. What we don't know is whether he struggles to learn plays or if he has an issue focusing when he doesn't have the ball in his hands.

Steeler posting labeled Wetjen as Lightening. A fan called him White Lightening. Could be a new nickname.
BS....watch the play. Wetjen broke at the top of route and caused the slip by the defender.
That was what scouts were saying at the Shrine Bowl.
Great at the top of the route. was open all week.
Speed can make defenders slip and that's how I saw that play happen.
Agreed he needs more polish but if anyone can do it should be McCarthy.

Not surprising. History says so.
It's not about how to best use one player.

It's about how to best use everyone together to maximize the ability to win.

History says Iowa's coach has utilized his players to the tune of a hall of fame career

No BS. I watched the play. Wetjen helped the DB fall by pulling his arm, thus he "caused the slip" with physical play. His speed was key in breaking the long gain, but it didn't get him open on the play.

BTW, neither your claim nor my observation says anything about his route-running on that play. It probably was the appropriate route, though, based on how quickly the QB released the pass.

Regardless, I think we all hope he continues to develop as a WR and has a successful career.

It's amazing how a thread praising a former Hawkeye turns into b******* about the current iowa coaching staff.

Lester has been mentioned in this thread.
Things definitely are better with him around.
I have never been critical of him.
I still wonder if he has been granted sufficient autonomy to do his job correctly.

EYES: No need to reply; your mindless comments are invisible to many of us. In effect, you don't exist.
Well, Lester himself has said that KF rarely is in his headset during the games.
