Football Western Foothills 4A/5A - Week 2

[Maiden Creek]

Loving the energy in the analyses.

My take on a couple piciks, East Burke has a QB that can throw and move and is only a soph. Expecting EB to have more of their stuff together after a hard loss to a team that COULD upset the conference and take the title. I could be dead wrong lol. Closer Foard game than one would think but as anything we dont play games on paper although alot of all our picks will be what we expect.

Not to be downing NL at all, I'm not I just dont feel like that could be a close game but I would expect a hard fight for a couple quarters. Maybe it was because of all the flags but they didnt make huge huge gains on plays against WL other than 3 great long bombs down the field. I'll give WL toughness on D up front that may be competitive against short up the middle runs though against teams like Lincolnton and Shelby in such. We'll see bout that too but North COULD make it a close game if Agee is in and playing and/or they stay on the blocks and RB hit the lanes fast.

North Iredell good grief you bout have to try to lose to get scored on 63 zip on Wilkes Central. Although WC aint too bad alot of years and usually have some athletes.

You were right about Lincolnton-North Lincoln….that was a whipping. Those “Brown Trout” Wolves put it on ‘em.

I do feel a little better about my Maiden pick. We’ll see.

I told ya ha. Ole Burke picks em right(most of the time) I’m guessing the 15 points was mercy scores with the subs in. After Bazze leaving along with a big time class of guys I figured it’d go downhill for NL. Lincolnton im figuring is going deep this year so North did lose to a powerhouse so I’ll cut em slack. Prob played without Agee too.

I’m still leaning toward ACR on the Maiden pick.

Still hanging with East Burke and hoping for an upset. An underdog against Foard I never thought ha ha

This weeks picks are very predictable. Cheerduck with his Catawba county bias and no love for the Cavs picking Foard LOL. I can see that being bout the only game that could go either way. Foards JVs had an ok winning season last year and was never blown out except against Hickory. Wise pick man. I'm just gonna take my chances. I pick against em alot of times when its common sense.

East Lincoln game COULD possibly go either way but I'm leaning 14 points or less difference in a tight one. Originally I said 7 and still could be. Providence usually has alittle something here and there being a Charlotte school.

No bias. I'd rather pick East Burke over Foard, butI don't see that happenning right now.

Its a tough call i know. If I seen the West Iredell blowout id prob have a different view . But i dunno man, I got an ok outlook on this game and it being the first homegame for new coach and time to figure things out it may be a down to the wire Cav win. They usually play Foard pretty tough. I'll keep score updates.

I think alot of us are looking forward to seeing the West Iredell vs Hickory matchup as well as when EL plays WI. See if they live up to the hype. Cant leave Maiden out of that either, lol. If they take care of business in little San Francisco WI/Maiden be good too

He was big. We didnt do much up the gut, but I wasn't watching him in specific. He's big, though.

Biggest downfall...not enough of anything to counter speedy Wolves. Offense looked confused at times, and there were many lost yards. Wolves D was their biggest downfall, though.

Good kicker. Good punter. Lotta players

There was a cool moment in the lopsided game, during a timeout. The Wolves played 9 to 5 (Dolly) on the system. Fans cheered on both sides, and clapped along in unison, some dancing.

Heard from a nearby resident, not at the game, who heard it in her neighborhood...says she soaked it in, sang along, and cried... cool moment!

I think I even saw Lincolnton singing along, and was playing air guitar. Odd choice, but he does him...

Man ole man. Good deal on the Maiden win. That set me back on the pick em's but glad they won. ACR not what they usually are.

Great 1st win for the Cavs and first win for Coach Winkler(EB grad 2000) as a head coach or as far as I know this is first year as a head coach. Ya'll picking Foard I tried to tell ya, ha.

Foard/ EB game- well Foard had some size and they could pass the ball but it failed when it mattered most. East Burke, some small kids. No big hogs up front but buddy they was tough and played to the final whistle. Foard pretty tough they'll win some games. The last 3 that is. Foards next 5 games are BRUTAL. East Burke takes on old rival Freedom in what looks to be a thumping but EB may hold on for a bit. Outside of Freedom and Hibriten EB got some pretty winnable games. Just hope we can get some injury recovery going on. Some hurt fellas down there. Again, tough bunch of kids for their size and numbers. Foards numbers looked even smaller.

Expecting nothing but good stuff from Hickory. I wasn't thinking AC come into this one with a feeling of a chance. Used to be some good match ups between these 2 but I think Hickory will lay the beat down on em' for a while. Sucks Newton had to take a big L to the tater towners.

Aint really got much to reply on this one. North seems to be back in their Post Beam/Pre Bazzel form. A monster class of boys in 2023 and 2024 they may never seen again. No track stars either but I gotta give it to em in the size dept. Definitely got that. I got my NL fix i guess you could say last week cause I figured rest of their schedule looks bumpy. Then again they lost to a deep run Lincolnton team so rest of their games outside of Hickory may be respectable long as Agee is 100% and in the game.

One thing I didn’t mention we were up on em 21 to 6 at one time and let em claw back in it. I got nervous, that game went on LATE. All the flags and the injuries will drag a game out. Foard had a TD called back for holding and it was at a part in the game we got fortunate. I def think we won against a slightly better team tonight. We’ll def take it espacially after last week

ACR 8 points…Wondered about that too…Noticed from Creek’s updates that the Rockets had trouble defending the pass.

Sounded like a fun game to be at even with a lopsided victory. I am sure gonna miss Dolly. We’ve lost too many at one time this year I was telling the wife I said whose next, Clint Eastwood??
