Interesting 2nd round match up, West seems very solid for a 5-5 team, I'm gonna go with Heritage by 3-4 scores.

If so this thing will be over quick, not necessarily because of score, but because that clock is gonna keep rolling with these two teams

If Mt. Heritage doesn’t have a running clock on WL. I wouldn’t expect a deep run in the playoffs.
Shelby, Lincolnton, Burns had running clocks.
That’s with WL literally snapping the ball with Less than .05 on the play clock. It’s LITERALLY like every play. Sometimes with .01

For lack of a better game anywhere, nearby, I drove up to West Lincoln and watched them play North Wilkes…Thought it would be a tight game after North Wilkes scored on its first play from scrimmage, quarterback going about 65 yards.
‘West Lincoln came up the field getting a few yards here and a few yards there, and enough to retain possession, until they finally scored…West Wilkes drove deep into WL territory, but their drive stalled…Then here goes West, again, back up the field and did the same thing as in their first possession.
Unfortunately, for North Wilkes, WL keeping the ball and the NW defense on the field wore the Vikings down, and as the gains became bigger the rout was on. Final score was 42-13 with NW scoring their second touchdown as time expired.
‘This week for The Rebels, the heat gets turned way up, as they climb the mountain to take on the cougars who are on another level from North Wilkes…West Lincoln will try to grind it out with them but I’m afraid MH is on another plain from West Lincoln, too, and they (West) are more than likely going to get a taste of the same medicine they gave to North Wilkes. Course, I should be concerned about our team having to take on Hendersonville, here, which means we have our hands full as well.

Mt Heritage has some great fans... they will be out in force with overalls on, trash can lid noise makers, milk jugs filled with rocks... I sat amongst them when they played Newton Conover years ago... Great folks

I see us as underdogs against Shelby and Lincolnton despite having a higher seed, I watched Shelby in a scrimmage earlier this year they'll be hard for us to stop

Why you talking about Shelby, they have a lot of hard games before you all would ever see them. Unless you just think the bottom half of the bracket is that weak and they will just walk right through it lol

A guy mentioned we wouldn't beat Lincolnton or Shelby if we don't put a running clock on West Lincoln I said we weren't as good as Shelby and Lincolnton, simple as that lol

But anyways, It’s hard to get backups/ Younger guys in the game. Especially since they moved the running clock to 35 points……. We have had a few running clocks and our younger guys only get like 1 series because the clock runs non-stop. They need to move it back to 42 points or don’t even have a running clock.

Putting teams on a running clock isn’t a foreign concept in Burnsville. All that really matters at this point is advancing. I don’t care if it’s by 35+ or 7+ lol
If WL is able to limit the big plays, I don’t think it’ll get to a running clock. Probably not many pass attempts in this one. I’m thinking MH 35-14 type of game, but I don’t know how good MH is against the run. If they aren’t great, it could be closer.
West Lincoln is built to not allow a running clock. Their offense is so slow and methodical that it in theory keeps games low scoring. Thus no 35 pt difference, granted always exceptions

Since they moved the running clock from 42 to 35, the game goes too fast, this is good reason I like for them to start the running clock in the 4th and not the 3rd.
A concern I might have in playing West Lincoln, is they have an experienced coaching staff who might figure out a game plan which could cause difficulty adjusting to it. One of the assistants has a wealth of playoff experience having won a title in his head coaching days.
Even then, I just don’t think it’s likely that West will be able to stay in the game with a really good team like Mountain Heritage.

I agree, I’ve talked to a few coaches. They said it’s harder to get younger guys legit reps. They only get so many plays now. They said, They sometimes forget it’s 35 points. They look up and the clock is just running lol. It should be at least 4th quarter. I mean it’s $8-$10 to even watch a High school game now. Some places maybe more.
Well that will depend on whether or not we have one of our DL.

Heritage should expect a good crowd from WL. They travel good. Even for an early round playoff game. They travel even better. If they believe they can win.

Hope they enjoy the Pit. It’s a beautiful stadium and they’ll be treated with nothing more than respect. I do think WL is quite solid at what they do offensively i am just not sure they or anyone is prepared for how dynamic MH is offensively this year compared to years past. While our line isn’t the biggest, they’re athletic and will get after you. If you don’t bring physicality you’re gonna get tapped out.
No. It didn’t make it up that far. But man that storm wreaked havoc in lots of other places.

It will be interesting to see how they play after a break under the new coach. You always knew under Joey that they would come out guns blazing. I figure it won't be much different but we'll see.
95% of the games they lost under J Robinson was because they played a more talented team like Reidsville, Corvian, etc
West Stokes in 2019 was a surprise. They did have good receiver that played at Mercer.
Historically heritage has been much better against run teams than passing, which sounds like WL. 35-7 by third and WL scores in garbage time in the fourth 35-14. Personally wouldn’t put to much emphasis on “if it’s not a running clock they don’t stand a chance against Shelby and Lincolnton” MH implementing more RPO makes them more versatile than in years past, and MH is a tough place to play at, especially when it starts getting 20-30 degrees. If anything hurts heritage in playoffs it’ll be special teams.
