Appreciate everything you did at West Craven Matt. You are a great guy and I support your decision to look after your families best interest. I hope you the best as you move on to South Johnston.

who is in line for this one?

A few names have been mentioned but I don't think I should list names just yet. I may not even know all the names that are in the hat. We have a really good assistant that is young and could be a really long time good coach. I'm personally hoping he gets it. Craven County Schools has a 3.5 million dollar deficit and they first decided to make students pay to play. A lot of people complained and then they announce they are cutting the number of assistants on the football team and cutting funding for weight training and maintenance on the field. The coach was losing several thousand on stipends. Coach Jim Bob from Havelock wrote the board a letter expressing how wrong he thought it was. His letter ended up in the Sun Journal and the board responded publicly to it and I'm not sure he intended for it to be in the paper. I don't imagine he was very happy with it. Here is his letter and the boards response.

Wow, agree that the letter probably wasn't intended for the paper and was it the best policy for the board to respond in such a public manner? Seems it would of been best for both parties to have met behind closed doors.. Wasn't Coach a finalist for the Mooresville job?

Also, Twitch was just named the interim moving forward for WC. He's losing a lot from last year, Malik, Harvey and a lot on D.

They'll battle Jacksonville for 2nd in the conference.

He was a finalist for the Mooresville job. Many thought it was his job to lose.

As far as the article in the paper; they had every right to put it in there.

Yea they had the right but that don't make it right. I'll be satisfied if we battle Jacksonville for 2nd next year. I guess I should edit and say this year. Time is flying by!

Mike Twichell is now the Head coach at West Craven. He has been a good assistant and is married to a local girl in the community. At 29 yrs of age (I think that is right) I feel we have stability at that position. Hopefully he can fill the needed slots with good people and be successful and continue the tradition Coach Clay Jordan built at West Craven. I'm personally pleased. I know who they interviewed and me personally I wanted Twichell.

What a bush league act by the BOE of Craven. Jim Bob had the guts to personally sign his letter. Apparently the Smart/A-- that penned the BOE letter didn't have the same guts.

Definitely a non-athletic dude. Obviously someone who had an unresolved issue with JB to start with, before this letter even became an issue. Some people resent it when others succeed at a high level. This is the same type of person that thinks everyone should get a trophy, after all, all players are equal, regardless of their contribution

How much money is the school nurse and AP bringing into HHS? Yeah that's what I thought.

This same BOE member will crumble when the soccer teams, golf teams, tennis teams and other non-revenues can't buy new uniforms or balls due to the football program not making as much money. Then they will find the money, especially if the $$$ parents get upset.

Both him and his wife are fine people. I've known the AD for a few years, he's a great guy who is close with Mike. Craven County is a lot more fun when West Craven is playing good ball, good luck to your boys this year.
