Gordon was and remains an unknown. West could have given some valuable minutes and scoring next year. Hate to see him go.

Agreed. Gordon looked as though his progression would be a slow one. I thought he showed some flashes towards the end of the season, but he is still for the most part an unfinished and developing product at this point. I think year two with him would've been maybe slightly better than year one. If anything, West could've been a contributor off the bench next season. I feel like he kind of topped off in terms of getting better. He can't create his own shot off the dribble if he's being covered, and always struggled taking it to the hole to score points. However, he has one of the sweetest jump shots I've seen from a WVU player but is way too streaky. West could've been a shooter off the bench next year who came in and banged three's.

Some might call this addition by subtraction, but including Doomes and Bolden, the staff now has to go out and find four new guys to come in. Most of the big time players have already signed for the top programs. Huggins has his work cut out here. They're gonna have to really recruit their @sses off! I just hope no one else leaves and Konate comes back. I think we still have a great core of guys returning, led by Culver.

Players are bailing like rats fleeing a sinking ship. Imagine if a similar scenario was occurring at pitt or marshall. This board would be beside itself at how the program was floundering. Happening here? Oh, nothing to worry about. "It'll get fixed." "HOFer." "Literally has the magic touch."

West not a big loss. For every point he scored he gave up 2. Horton and Routt are walk on players. Harler is graduating, but still might return.

Bailing or being asked to walk away?

Perhaps they're scared of the competition coming.

I'd wager being asked. And I suspect by the end, all who leave would have been encouraged except for Bolden...maybe. But I don't think it really matters. Even if a coach recognizes that the line needs cut on a player, having to do that with four or more players in one season should be concerning.

Not concerning when 1 can't play Defense and Gordon, not worth the time it would take.

Bolden graduated early had 1 year left. West was the same. Bolden couldn't stay healthy. Bolden offense shaky. He was probably our best defender besides Konate.

I don't think the players returning are the issue. Having depth will be the issue.

Perhaps the "fixing" is involving these "rats fleeing a sinking ship"? You ever thought of that? Nope. Because your hatred of Huggins is beyond anything I've ever seen.

In keeping with Nate's captain analogy, how would you view a captain that allows his ship to be overflowing with rats? How would you view a captain with one rat on his ship every 5 voyages? Logical people would view them differently. But that's not you because you can't look at your crush objectively.

Having one player leave a program for more playing time somewhere else is typical. Huggins in on the cusp of losing SIX players IN. ONE. YEAR. Are they leaving for more playing time at a lower level? Ok. But why in the hell were so many mid-level talents even recruited. Are the leaving because their attitudes don't mesh with the program. Ok. But how in the hell did you miss on the character of a rotations worth of players?

This is an indictment against the coaching staff anyway you cut it. This happens anywhere else and you're questioning what is going on at the very least. A rival school and you're laughing at the ineptitude of the Athletic Dept. Here? Nothing to worry about.

It's funny how poor play and poor attitude is often said to a reflection of the coaching staff on this board....except with Huggins. One would think upwards of 4 million per year in a poverty-stricken state with the lowest cost of living the nation would result in higher expectations.

How highly recruited was Jevon Carter? DeSean Butler? Joe Alexander? Not very highly recruited, but they came here, worked their a$$ off, and with the assistance of Bob Huggins became very successful. These players leaving were given that opportunity, and it just didn't work out. You can't really blame either side on this, but go ahead and keep saying that them leaving reflects poorly on Huggs.

LOL

Huggins literally stumbled on Carter while going to breakfast at a camp. It was sheer luck that we got him. Alexander and Butler were over a decade ago. Times has changed, and if you still see the same Huggins now as you did in 2009, come back to reality.

Konate? Highly recruited? Daxter? Nate Adrian? Jaysean Paige? Tarik?

Keep up the act.

I would like to see some assistant coaches be let go and bring in some former players currently in the coaching business.

So far, Bolden, Ahmad, Harris, Doomes, West, and Gordon are gone with possibly more to come. A loss of 4 starters with possibly more transfers to come. We have commitments from 2 players so far. Lots of room on the bus and not much depth a guard or forward so it is hard for me to see much incentive for Knapper, or Harler, to leave. I think Routt would still get some playing time, even if we do have Tshiebwe, Sags and Culver in the frontcourt. If Knapper and Harler stay, Horton is no better than number 5 on the list of guards. Quite possible we only have Tsheibwe, Culver and Sags for one year only. It will be interesting to see who Huggins brings on.

I would like this also. Think it would help recruiting and help communications in the locker room. Not a knock on the coaches we have, but some new, young blood is needed at times. But you know this isn't gonna happen. Huggs is extremely loyal to his staff.

Kind of like Bill Stewart was.

With the G's we are going after and the PWO G from KY, I would think that Horton is further down on the list.

IMO if you aren't turning over your coaching staff ..... that is, if your coaches aren't getting poached by other programs for promotions .... the program can become stale.
