I’ve seen more defensive holding on both teams in this series than I see offensive holding in any football game I’ll watch.

I am a neutral observer, but the Spurs seem to play a little dirty (lots of low key shoves/pushes/hacks to the back and lower body) and the Thunder were the biggest floppers I’ve ever seen and sadly SGA is the floppingest flopper in the game today.

Listen, the whole NBA is a dogshit game. There is no such things, as 3 seconds, Palming, and more. Might as well put pads on them. The NBA isn’t basketball like it should be. I only watch the NBA finals and it is remarkable how much they have bastardized the game.

This stuff looks G-rated compared to the 90s.

I swear the modern skinny-jean wearing generation is soft.
Generational insults aside, the games in the 80s and 90s were more rough. 80s even more so. That said, the game is a better quality today and players are better protected. Although I liked the hard-nosed style of the 80s, I prefer today’s product for its free flowing and precise nature.

I mean hes French so the fact he has any fight at all is in of itself impressive.
Part of why he's firing back. He doesn't want to get stuck with the label of being the soft 7'4 french guy. He's getting mugged regularly by the Knicks, Brunson was holding his jersey for 30 second before that. The refs are letting him play. Opposing teams know he's a freak and trying to get into his head, and he's saying no.

nostalgia is a hell of a drug.....

the 1996 uk/syracuse title game popped up on my youtube not long ago. i decided to watch it and reminisce. probably the worst basketball i've ever seen. combined 39 turnovers. every other possession was a walk or charge. uk shot 61% from the line, syracuse 64%.

the good ole days weren't really that good.....we just think they were.

Hated watching that ‘96 team. Just pure garbage. Those 4 free throws Syracuse missed and along with the 5 the Cats missed not only ruined the game but the whole season. Still have a hard time forgiving myself for looking back and idolizing that team.

The Kentucky teams of the 90s scored more points per game than the current UK teams.

The Kentucky teams of the 1970s averaged around the same amount of points as today's Kentucky teams even when playing with no three-point line, no shot clock and teams running the four corners offense at the end of games.

Adolph Rupp’s last few teams score 100+ points at a much higher rate than even Pitino’s teams did.

Ok let take one game and try to make your point. I was talking about the NBA in general as it is today. I have watched BB for 60+ years and the NBA is a Basterized product and you know it. So take your young *** and stuff it with you know what. Dipshit

Agree with all of this.

So once again I'll disagree with the "soft generation" nonsense lol. Y'all gotta stop acting like hardasses online and pretending everyone was fighting, spitting, and bleeding all over each other 30 or 40 years ago. I don't think Wemby is dirty (yet) but what you're seeing are cheapshots and there's nothing "manly" about taking a cheapshot, esp. in the Finals with a world title on the line. We didn't like it when Grayson Allen was doing it but now that it's Wemby, it's because we're soft?

old people and the internet....
I'm 42 and I do agree about how traveling is never called, palming, actually carrying moreso are completely out of hand and it's bled down to the college game and even high school. Stuff like players flexing after making a basket while down 30 with a minute to go. Highlight culture where there's a killer crossover but then a complete brick shot get celebrated. And oh Lord the flopping. We derided Duke for decades for that crap. I guess I'm an "ethical hooper" guy.

Having said that I've had more fun watching these playoffs and finals than since Cleveland 1-3 comeback. Teams are playing hard and chippy. We don't get this in the regular season and I do get why. I'm not against your points, just the things I mentioned in paragraph 1 👍🏻.

I actually played ball and was an all district and all region player. I was a shooter so I literally worked on footwork as much as my shot. So I'm not sorry when I see a Yannis 5 stepper, or a LeBron 4 stepper, or a jump stop then two more steps and it irks me because it's bled all the way down. It's like watching Dagestan basketball Khabib, Islam and his team play. I couldn't have cared less when it stayed in the NBA.

I've re watched that title game and I enjoyed Delk's 3 pointers and what else was it, oh winning the Natty. I mean we all remember how boring that season was or 90's UK basketball right? I don't have to enjoy the NBAization of college and high school just like you can enjoy it. When flopping completely takes over I want no criticism from you.

Am I getting old or has college sports not been completely bastardized and are now pro leagues? All about money now with no guardrails or loyalty. Paying players to visit? But it's just the symptom of a rotting society in general. College sports are not sustainable like this. Hell it may take 10 or 15 more years for it to be COMPLETELY watered down. Indiana was a great story but I think they're the exception more than the rule. 78 team NCAA tournament now? Awesome, let's just make it 150 and cancel most of the season. These are just my opinions good sir.
