Sorry I just hate this stupid tip of the iceberg bull! for the sport itself and not just Duke .joke!! lmfao first thing discovered is a meal to Mom ! Great start!!!!!!! Don’t think it can get to be much more of a TIP then that! Lmfao. How low can you be to go snooping around lunch meals...and wouldn’t that be like the last thing you investigate like the bottom! of the iceberg if you couldn’t find a dang thing!!! Lmfao . wow these are young kids/ men ,not cattle or property! Money hungry ughhhhh ok I let it out I’m done untill the next boatload of BS

I believe it's less about snooping and more about being concise in reporting all the things the agent was paying for related to these college stars. They probably have a spreadsheet with literally everything flagged that's related to these kids.

Lol ok big shot. There have been multiple reports saying more will come out and it's pretty obvious they have more documents to release than just the one today. FBI clearly isn't done with this. They just released two agents today, as well the Bowen thing a few months ago. There's a reason there were reports saying HOF coaches should be worried, as well as 8/16 top seeds this year. Just read the tea leaves, bud.

That means nothing and you know nothing.

Maybe they said HOF Coaches should be worried to get clicks much like they did namimg Duke and UNC in the story titles of this BS today. Or may be Calipari, Self and Izzo are your HOF coaches that should be worried. Or maybe their is a lot more that no one knows yet including you. Its all speculation right now.

This amateurism rule just irks me. How do Olympians, who are deemed amateurs, swim, perform gymnastics, etc., get paid endorsement money and then still end up performing said sport in college under scholarship? Scholarships or not, amateurism is titled under the same umbrella for all sports per the NCAA. Someone please explain that to me, because I’m lost there.

If nothing else comes of this thing I hope the rules commission becomes either more consistent or changes come to the rules themselves.

Anyone willing to bet on the demographics of the head NCAA officials?? The fact that amateurism still exists makes tons of sense if you consider the heads of the NCAA.

Naw, we're not gonna get THAT deep today. Stop it sir!

Hey,

I just want to introduce myself to the board. My name is Jay and I'm a student at Duke. I've always been a lifelong fan and obviously that fandom has increased since I've been on campus! I read this board once in awhile and finally decided to make an account. I'm excited to finally contribute to the conversations and will say that I am friends with a few guys on the team so I will definitely provide some stories and what not when applicable. Let's hope Duke turns it around and can win another ring.

Best,
Jay

He posted this a while back.

Yea I jumped the gun without much research . I still don’t like all the mother lunch bull though. It’s tacky nit picking and makes me want to puke with all the stupid NCAA rules .

That's what I'm thinking. We have tips of people wanting to shoot schools up but we spend years in this crap. It's a joke and who cares about a meal really
One has nothing to do with the other. That's kind of like suggesting every officer on the force be working on unsolved murders right after you get a speeding ticket.

I don’t understand and may sound dumb but how can a kid turn 18 buy a gun, or go to military , be an adult , whatever everything , but be forced to play college basketball, and basically wanting them to be a sheep while doing it, and make these guys boocoo money but a mother can’t have a lunch??, then only has to stay 1 year and not just be able to go straight to the NBA to begin with is ???? It eats me up and confusing. I know the answer I just don’t like it lol . If this is such a problem an easy fix to a lot of the (dirty money) would be just let the guys go straight to the NBA who are good enough....maybe that hurts their pockets

I'm genuinely confused how I'm not a Duke fan lol. I said I would "bookmark and flame" Pigsah when he said "that means nothing and you know nothing" in response to me saying this won't be the only news leaked. Since I made that comment, that somehow makes me a troll? That's awfully asinine but ok.

Pisgah, I’m not 100% sure if he is a Duke fan or not.
I am 100% sure that if he is a Duke fan, he’s the worst Duke fan I’ve seen on this board.

How so? Any comments that you can turn to as evidence for why I'm the worst Duke fan on here?

If an Olympian wants to go to college to compete in their sport then they can’t get sponsors. I can’t remember which one it was but either Katie Ledecky or Missy Franklin turned down sponsors to be able to compete in swimming in college, it might’ve even been both of them that turned down sponsors to be able to compete in swimming in college.

I can only imagine if Carter Jr went to like St. Mary's or similar. He wouldn't even had his named mention on ESPN or any other major news outlet for his mom having a lunch with this agent. Until something else significant comes out, just another example of crap you deal with balling at Duke in my opinion.
If a top ten recruit went to St. Mary's, he'd get named b/c he was a top ten recruit. Top ten recruits don't go to St. Mary's, though.

Are Duke fans worried? I have yet to see any evidence that one of our guys got paid. Our compliance office and coaches aren’t dumb. The FBI raids were 6 months ago. If a current or former player was dealing with someone who was raided, I’m sure the coaches knew about it long ago. Anything that happened without their knowledge won’t matter much. We might lose a few players over a few hundred bucks and a bloomin onion, but so will all the top teams. This will lead to rule changes and life goes on.

I think people are more worried about the big picture and mad. Your last 2 sentences. At least me for me. It’s not really about Duke itself. Nobody should lose a student athlete because of a meal for their mom. What rule changes would be made besides the 1 and done. That should be done . Ones that arnt gonna change lol. The least of my worries are “what’s gonna come out next” It’s more about what has and then trying to enforce it/ discipline
