Dang, that was quick! Congratulations! Now go order you that stamp and the seal (which you'll probably never use, but is awesome nonetheless).

Not so fast.

It was a computer test. Gone are the days of schlepping every book you can find into an event hall with 1000 other people.

I doubt I will get one. I don't do anything that would ever require a stamp. And the only thing I ever used CAD for was to map out gas stations for soil remediation. And that was over a decade ago in Louisiana.

Congratulations...I think I've only used my stamp to include with junior engineers' applications. Still it is a nice milestone that means a little something.

But can you dunk?

Do you remember when Terrance Cody blocked those field goals against Tennessee? Go back and watch those carefully and you will see his feet only come about two inches off the ground. That's me only without nearly the height or athleticism.

Awesome. Score one for the old guys....

Now we are going to need you to write a $10,000 check for that annual E&O insurance now that you will be stamping **** and every frivolous lawsuit in your zip code will try to drag you into it...****

Also order a stamp that comes with the digital files where you can import them into cad drawings and PDFs.

Lol, I stamped a blank piece of paper and then scanned it, emailed it to myself, and screenshotted it and pasted it into Word.

Atta boy!

I'm not an engineer, but I think you need to order that stamp. Like others have said, a milestone.

I have the seal. One day at work, on the pot, I "sealed" every ply of TP I used in that session. Only time I have ever actually used it. My job has never needed it but the PE has paid off for "expert" testimony situations.

Congratulations! You should be very proud. I am a CPA and remember how much passing the exam changed my career path. Having PE after your name means a lot. Well done.

That’s awesome!

I just found out I passed the Principles and Practices of Engineering exam.

Welcome to the PE club! Order a stamp and seal. You may not use them but they’re good to have.

One other suggestion is to join the local Engineering Society and be active in it. MS has a pretty strong society and our Director is also the director for Alabama.

I used to do the whole stamp, sign, scan and watermark as well. Having the digital jpeg and DXF files makes the process a lot easier especially on large drawing sets.

Most impressive credentials behind/in front of your name in order in my book... This will go over like a turd in the punch bowl.

MD -- Can remove your spleen to save your life.
DDS -- Without you we all have dumpster breath and wooden snags.
DO -- Can cure your spleen with meditation and guana root extract.
PE --- Likely a master of some form of dynamics and makes the world go round.
CFA --- Can model 97 different scenarios of a financial asset's present value.
SGT, MAJ or higher --- Utmost respect for most for fighting the good fight, but pulled down on the list for a handful of idiots in their ranks.
CPA --- Really good at knowing/following rules, addition/subtraction, and watching paint dry.
PHD -- Those who can't do right?
PMP/CAPM -- You are not special. Everyone who works is a project manager in some form or fashion( special shout-out to PiMP certified individuals. Love what you do.)
CDL-- Backing up a 48' trailer is no joke. Massive deduction for that smell coming out of the shower area when I stop at the Pilot/Flying J.
SHRM-CP -- It's human resources. We don't care. Just get my damn deductions right on my paycheck and quit sending me snotty notes about how I need to complete my annual EEOC training.
Salesforce Certified Administrator - 17 you and that monstrosity of a digital rolodex that drains 30% of my productivity. 17 you.
MBA -- Don't put that **** at the end of your name, it's a sign you got it from a directional school in 2 semesters. Nobody who got a real one mentions it after age 30.

(Insert 50 gallons of human waste)

ESQ -- Your profession gets a bad rap because the majority of you are parasites that leach off of the rest of us. Seperate yourselves by not mentioning the word esquire in anything other than a professional letter... In fact use attorney at law or JD to let us know you are not a complete *******.

REP, SEN, -- Every politician. (Many likely used ESQ prior to seeking political office.)

ETA (Added CDL per request.)

DDS is too high and PhD is too low, but all in all not a bad list.

Isn’t it required to have a stamp to maintain your license. I’m pretty sure that was in the requirements package when I passed.

Thought so:

Rule 14.2 Seal of the Licensee
Upon completion of licensure, the licensee will be advised that he shall secure an official seal which shall be applied to engineering drawings, specifications, reports and other engineering or surveying documents prepared by him or under his responsible supervisory control. A copy of the seal imprint shall be furnished to the Board before the certificate of licensure will be released. Failure to provide proof of seal may result in disciplinary action by the Board.

Can't have one slot for phd. SOme are impressive, some are probably an indicator of if not below average intelligence, at least really poor planning/critical thinking skills and basically evidence that somebody suckered you out of several years of low value work without your actually gaining any marketable skills.

Not sure what it takes for a SHRM certification, but you are underrating human resources. The payroll and benefits administration are basically clerical work. But the compliance basically requires the practice of law, and some human resource people do a lot of work and training to stay current and do as good of a job as most lawyers would do.

Can you imagine a world where seeing this is an everyday occurrence?

DDS may actually deserve to be number one Dorn... But we all understand you may be biased by you desire to get a gummy from contestant #4 in the slideshow below.****

I can't imagine a world without truckers either. If that's the criteria the most impressive letters after a name might be "CDL".

Not in Alabama. In Alabama you are not supposed to get the seal until you are properly licensed.

Congratulations. I passed the PE in Alabama back in 1984 and I'm getting close to closing out a rewarding 41 year career. Glad we will continue to have MSU represented. FWIW, I sealed very few drawings back in the early years, but having a PE was essential for advancement.
