Pretty good recap. I would just say that in journalism, it's important to cite where you gleaned information like "
who works mostly in the high 80’s with his fast ball and throws great breaking pitches for strikes, including a knuckle curve and changeup."

The way this is set up leads the reader to assume you are speaking from firsthand knowledge, as if you scouted him yourself. (That, or we assume you took those quotes from another source without attributing them, which is a big time no-no)

Agreed. Having a second pair of eyes to catch misspellings, passive voice, and grammar mistakes (HRs - not HR's - as an example) is also nice.

I really didn't know you had to attribute where you get stats from, such as PG, which is where I looked at his game by game stats, and what pitches he throws more often than others, and how fast he throws them.

It's always a good idea to be courteous with your colleagues if only because as you build up a good name for yourselves then they'll think highly of you.

For example, from Auburn's Rivals site:
In Brief: Bats left, throws right. Perfect Game (profile here) has clocked Jordan's fastball at 92 MPH, but Jordan told CatsIllustrated.com he can hit 97. He had Tommy John surgery in April.

This is a feature that fills a void. As watered down as sports journalism is these days this is something actually worth checking out on a weekly basis. Nice job

You wouldn't have to attribute stats, but if you're using someone else's work it's great to give them credit.

For nearly everything else, citing a source increases your credibility.

Yep

Son of a *****....that centered text is awful.

Fully justified or left justified.....Centered? No....Please NO.

The Starkville Daily's web page used to be like this. It might still be, but I haven't been back. No online publication wants to be compared to the SDN webpage, for any reason.
