I think they just know he has the talent and are asking him to step up. We need him to eat some innings while Ryan is out.

Definitely need him to figure it out. He's for sure got talent.

What I fear is his typical control problems leading to walks and then he grooves one trying to find the plate and let's Ole Miss do the thing they're good at. Not a good recipe.

Interesting. Not saying we're conceding Friday, but we're definitely setting it up to win Saturday and Sunday,.
Our bats can mash any and all of Reb pitching. Elliott is good since his return from injury but he is not dominate the way he had been. Townsend is their be SP. Reb bats are nothing w/o HR's and there won't be many of those Saturday and Sunday.

That could happen. This is a challenge to him. And, at the end of the day, that can happen to any of the others we were going to throw, also.

So we're forfeiting Friday, it seems. Foster won't make it out of the 2nd. Maybe not even the first.
I think Valincius gave a max effort vs Vandy and coach didn’t want to push him a day up… could see him being Saturday Starter next week as well(even though series starts on Thursday vs UGA)

I realize our situation has changed for the moment, but Tomas in that Saturday role has been lethal. Hopefully Foster or a dark horse can emerge over the next few weekends. We have had guys do it before.

I'd say we are rolling the dice on game one, and otherwise holding our position.

Would also like to point out that two years in a row against Ole Miss we’ve had someone come from out of nowhere to pitch one of the best games in program history so if that trend holds then either Charlie or Duke is about to look like a Cy Young winner this weekend.

I agree. This will be the best offensive line he’s probably ever seen in his career. I have confidence we can hit any pitcher.

You know what I miss? Those old Cohen days of 9 pitchers a game. Might get to see that again.

Who's the pitcher that finally put it all together against OM a few years ago that kept him in the rotation the rest of the season?

Or am I thinking of Girodo out of the bullpen, and it wasn't a starter at all?

It comes down to, is Ole Miss pitcher better than our batters. Our guys might light his *** up running him out of the game.

I think that after this week Valincius will get another game 2 start but on Friday due to the Thurs-Sat format and then be locked in as the Friday guy for the rest of the season regardless of what happens with RM. Stone will take the Sat slot and likely keeps that for the season but not a lock. When McPherson comes back he could go to Sat but the more likely scenario is McPherson to Sun or even the bullpen depending on how limited he might be physically.

Looking on the positive side, with every challenge there is an opportunity. If someone steps up for us we could come out of this way stronger than we would have been had this not happened.

Joke's on me! Now we're set up great to take the series! Hats off to the coach and team!

Foster was dialed in and punching the zone, mixing up pitches. Proud of that young man's fortitude.
