Weekend Drinking and Cooking Thread

Happy Bye Week SPS!
It was gorgeous yesterday evening so I thought I’d wade fish for an hour or so. I got this one in 20 minutes so I decided to call it a day. I had things to do so I let him swim another day. View attachment 18464
I’ve got a golf tournament tomorrow so probably won’t cook and will drink whatever free beer they give me. For the evening consumption I’ll probably go with old trusty Larceny.
Sunday gonna do reverse sear tomahawks and steak fries.

Hope everyone has a great weekend lacking in disappointment.

While I had practice yesterday my fishing buddy took his yak out about 330 and caught 11 reds and 4 keeper trout in and hour and a half. It’s super salty right now

Smoking 2 beef rib sections tomorrow. Also expecting delivery of my Bullseye tomorrow. Will probably buy some chicken thighs to break it in right.

One of our coaches wife was in an accident so the school has been doing a meal train to help his family out. So, I’ll be cooking, just not for me. Going to smoke 4 racks of st louis ribs, give him the uncooked rib tips for later, some smoked bbq beans and a turtle cheesecake.
I have everything for a Mississippi pot roast though - may try it out tomorrow.

Son's birthday party is tomorrow so I'll be smoking a Boston butt with beans, slaw, and potato salad with red and white bbq sauce.

We found a mess of large peanuts for boiling prior to watching USM alum Hugh Freeze boat-race our Covid-ravaged Eagles. There will be whiskey involved there. Probably more Woodford.

Grilled 4 one inch thick pork chops with a little Holy Voodoo rub on them. White cheddar Mac and cheese and sweet tater fries on the side. No idea about tomorrow. Had intended to go check out Beef at Home in Starkville for some inspiration but never got there today.

Think I’m doing whole fried MS farm catfish, — salt, pepper, cornmeal and a little Zatarains fish fry for the batter, homemade hush puppies and Nathan’s frozen onion rings along with local seafood restaurant cole slaw.

Tomorrow yard bird quarters with Jonesy Bird Rub and XTC Rub plus white sauce, wife’s yankee Iowa corn casserole. Sunday BBQ Meatloaf homemade mashed taters.
