Florida (-7 1/2) vs Miami
O/U is 47

Hawaii vs Arizona (-12)
O/U is 71

I’m really liking the gators here. Don’t know much about Hawaii or Arizona. Thoughts?

QB getting his first snaps vs grantham seems problematic for Miami. I'd take Florida

I think about how well Mannys defense did against Mullen when he was at MTSU in 09. And Miami has a legit front 7. I could see it being a 3-6 point game.

I’m tempted to take the under in week 0/1 games. Offenses usually aren’t that good. Couple that with Miami starting a freshman QB I like the under 47 I think.

UF's talent and depth situation at corner may force Grantham to dial back on the degree of pressure he favors, and if he doesn't it may offer the young QB some great opportunities to step up and exploit. I still favor UF as well, though.

don't forget, Dan mullen is a dick. he'll run it up if he has the opportunity

Mullen may be a dick, but he never really ran it up on people while he was at State. And he had several opportunities to do that against Ole Miss early in his career but didn’t.

I like the under a lot.

2009: We beat them 41-27 and they were the ranked team coming in.
2010: We had to fight off a comeback, beat them 31-23, was 31-9 at one point.
2011: We beat them 31-3, this is the only one you could argue where we could run it up, thought I disagree. I was at this game and wished we had run it up but I think it was what it was. We weren't a great team at the end of that year.

I mean, if you're going to make a statement, at least make it SOMEWHAT true. When he could run it up, he did it, just like any other coach. His biggest problem was, against decent opponents (think LSU 2014), he'd go super conservative and let teams back in it. That was out of fear though, not sympathy.

2009: We had the ball inside their 10 with under a minute, Mullen took a knee.

2010: Up 31-9, we completely went conservative and let them back into the game. Could have easily been 41-9 or worse at the final.

2011: Again, we completely shut it down. Ask Chad Bumphis about this game some time, he will tell you it could have easily been 63-3.

I mean, if you're going to make a statement, at least make it somewhat true.

Also, new name time.

I was all on the Khalil Tate bandwagon last year with Sumlin taking over Arizona. I did not, at the time, know Tate had a serious injury that prevented him from running.

According to reports, Tate is fully healthy. And I expect to see Tate have a damn-near Heisman type season. I will be betting on them this opener under the idea that Tate is about to Johnny Football them.... (which means you should probably bet on Hawaii).

I also like Florida. Year 2 of Dan/Franks will be much more potent offensively. Manny will have some learning pains early on, especially with a rookie QB.

Fade away.

I hate UF and wish I could bet against them. I'll probably stay away so I can cheer for Miami then kick myself for not taking easy money.

HOWEVER, Miami typically plays pretty well at the beginning of the season and they have a new coach. They'll be amped up for sure. They'll have that SWAG going. Maybe if they can hit UF in the mouth early and Dan catches an unlucky break, Miami can get up early and get an upset.

One thing is for certain: Adidas has ruined Miami's uniforms. They used to be awesome, now they are a joke. You can bank Miami will have crappy uniforms.

Nike game Miami all those awful uniforms. They switched to Adidas and these look great.

See I think their previous Adidas uniforms have been awful. Maybe they are better this year. Those look more classic. They've had that shiny piping the past few years similar to UCLA and they've looked atrocious IMO. Pay attention to the shiny parts. They look worse on TV than filtered photos too.

Agree, those original Adidas uniforms they wore were pretty bad. Still an improvement over the Nike ones though. The ones I posted were from 2018 (and presumably 2019).
