this is what winside has done for the past 3-4 years, they are not being proactive at all. they claim they want to field a team and yet the season is week to week and this is not fair for all who are involved, the players, the other team, the fans, the officials who took the contract and are now out of a game and especially the kids who don't get a game in. it's time for the NSAA to step in and say enough is enough.

I don't disagree with what you said, but just a point...if a school cancels on the officials, they still get paid. If they're despondent over not being able to ref a game that night, then yeah there's nothing that can be done about that. But a contract is a contract and they still get their compensation.

Two things make some consequences and adjustments:
Forfeits: The forfeiting school will pay officials and pay the other school $1000 for loss of game
Raise the 8-man number so more school coop a simple raise to 55 would go a long ways

I agree with the cutoff number. 55 is where it should have been put initially. 47 wasn't really a change.

I haven't checked out the numbers, but an interesting reply to Stu Pospisil's tweet:

NO THE OFFICIALS DO NOT GET PAID. the home school or whomever hired those officials has a clause in it that states that they don't have to pay them. doesn't seem fair for the officials but if any of you people have a contract from a school you will see that it is in black and white that they under circumstances of this nature do not have to pay the officials.

Wallace is also forfeiting this week's game to Leyton/Banner County

Contract for Registered Officials

Sorry, but you're wrong. That, or you're not signing NSAA created contracts.

Middle of the contract, #2 subset 3. A forfeit in the middle of the year would NOT be a situation where the contract is null and void. If the school cancels their entire season before game one, they'd get out of it. But not if they forfeit one game in the middle.

To take it a step further...home teams pay officials, normally. If a visiting team forfeits to a home team, the visiting team pays for the refs. Of the two consequences that @highschoolfootballnut suggested, one is already in place.

NSAA makes a point to make sure that the schools that create these situations, also take care of the refs.
