One school from first 4 has won the the next round every year since 2011 when it began. I like Belmont tomorrow

Three of the four BIG East teams went down in the NIT as Georgetown, Providence & Butler all got taken out. Xavier is the only team who saved their bacon. The Johnnies are still losing to Arizona State. The Big East just wasn't too strong this year.

I think in 10 years the Big East will no longer be a major conference. They might have an outstanding team like Nova but as a conference I think they'll sink to eventually be at an A-10 level.

Lots of hate for mullin and St. John’s. Last I checked his team steamrolled is and made the ncaa tournament . If our coach did that , we would be happy as a pig in sh*t . Double standard ?

Lucky to get in, JIM Jackson mentioned how bad OOC was. If they played someone besides Cal and lousy Ga Tech probably in NIT. If they played for example Wisconsin or Minnesota instead of RU probably in NIT. Also like 1-5 in last 6 games.

If our team started 12-0 and then went 9-13 down the stretch this board would be unreadable.

Not if this team made the ncaa tournament . Some posters on this board want to build a shrine to pike, meanwhile we were playing in the conference tournament play in games again.

I think they have some good players but they aren't a good team.

First of all they're small-----they don't/can't rebound.

What offense do they run ? " It's my turn to take a 3 " ?

Ponds is very good but the rest of that team are coach killers

I think it's the idea that several had after the game this year that St. Johns was a Sweet 16 team just because they had a hot shooting game. Turns out they are a terrible defense and poorly coached team that happens to have several great shooters.

Rutgers would be favored to win a rematch on a neutral court if they played tomorrow.

As I said after the SJU game.... we just happened to have a cold night at the same time they had a hot night. If we both had average nights, it would have been a one possession game. Sometimes that happens.

Also said that I felt SJU was going to be a middling Big East team that wouldn't do well in the Big Ten. My feeling hasn't changed on either position now that the season has ended.

Yeah maybe . Facts are they rolled us and made the tournament . At this stage I would sign for Rutgers next year to have an ncaa tournament season like St. John’s just had .
Wouldn’t you?

Against ASU, the Johnnies shot 8-31 (.258) from the arc.... and against us they shot 16-32 (.500) from the arc. That's a 24 point swing on basically the same number of attempts.

When SJU shot better than .371 on threes, they were 13-2. When they shot worse than .319, they were 3-11.

I don't think anyone is asking that question or disputing that answer. But as a fan of neither, I'd personally take Rutgers future going forward over St. Johns. Mullin is just a bad coach and he doesn't recruit at a high enough level to overcome that.

the makeup of RU at the time was in no way shape or form ready to compete with a SJU team playing at a high level. RU came in overjuiced and it showed and they didnt have the chops to back it up, letting SJU embarrass them on their home court. If this game was played in late February it would be a much different game
