For those who are migrating to the LA Coliseum this weekend, there remains a nonzero chance of The Big One earthquake causing the Western part of California (including the Coliseum) to slide off into the Pacific, much like Atlantis.
I will continue to provide updates from Caltech's monitoring system across the week.
At this point, I think it is probably safe to travel.
I will see what I can do.can you give air traffic controller and flight cancelation/delay info for all airports flying out of Iowa?
THANKS!!!!
These are fantastic. I’ve been worried sick for fans heading out there. I’m pretty sure we have a GA assigned to keep abreast of solar flares, it’s all good!Hope we take along the right type of transmitters and helmet receivers on saturday
The X5.1-class eruption from sunspot AR4274 is this year's most powerful solar flare and Earth is in the firing line.
Right there with you. I wear that ensemble regularlyI am far beyond the age of giving a **** about such things.
Have u been to the Coleseum for a game before?Yes. Of course. And according to Accuweather, there is the possibility of a thunderstorm. So if there's a lightning delay or two it would make for one of the most miserable fan experiences ever. And I have tickets . . .
I sat through the blizzard game at Kinnick back on Nov. 23, 1991, when Iowa trounced Minnesota and Danan Huges made snow angels in the south end zone. But I was younger then.![]()
I will be praying for all my Hawkeye brethren who will be risking life and limb to attend the game.11-13-2025

CalTech Seismic Monitoring:
So far today 12 quakes in the SoCal region. HOWEVER, 5 are Richter scale magnitude 2.
My longitudinal study (this week) still indicates that the Hawkeye Faithful SHOULD be safe traveling to/being in place/traveling from the Coliseum.
Of course, to be safe, you might want to get right with God prior to the trip.
Just saying.
good callI will be praying for all my Hawkeye brethren who will be risking life and limb to attend the game.

I worked for a company head quartered in Santa Barbara, so would travel there a few times a year. They always told me SoCal drivers do terrible in rain when driving. Can't imagine in 1 to 2 inches of rain what kind of LA chaos that makes on the roads
Too risky.would you advise against traveling to the West coast????
It's old and definitely isn't a fancy stadium. Is the LA Coliseum an old dump of a place?
Yeah, people get overly cautious and it can be really annoying. They always told me SoCal drivers do terrible in rain when driving. Can't imagine in 1 to 2 inches of rain what kind of LA chaos that makes on the roads
The Coliseum has undergone a recent renovation to get it ready for the 2028 Olympics. It was desperately needed, and the result is pretty good. It's old and definitely isn't a fancy stadium.
Thats good news. I haven't been to The Coliseum in 2-3 years now. I drive past it but can't see much. The Coliseum has undergone a recent renovation to get it ready for the 2028 Olympics. It was desperately needed, and the result is pretty good.
There is also a non-zero chance of Cthulhu. For those who are migrating to the LA Coliseum this weekend, there remains a nonzero chance of The Big One earthquake causing the Western part of California (including the Coliseum) to slide off into the Pacific, much like Atlantis.

Can't discount that possibility. There is also a non-zero chance of Cthulhu.
