Forecast says 84 is the high. Probably humid too, I'm guessing. Players (and fans) will need to stay hydrated.

Wondering how this will affect play on the field. Northwestern is the team from the north, but has won both games this season (Stanford and Duke) when the weather was hot and humid. I think our ability to rotate in guys, especially on the o-line and d-line, will be to our advantage. In both the Stanford game and the Duke game, we basically broke the game open in the 4th quarter by continuing to run the ball down their throats and dominate the LOS. From what the UT fans have described here, their team is young and doesn't yet have as much depth as they'd like, which I'm hoping means that they get worn down in the second half.

I'm not writing this to troll...I'm genuinely interested in UT fans' opinion on how the warm and humid weather might affect their team.

Don't think it will be an issue.

We play 4-5 DEs and 4 DTs. Would like to be 5-6 at each spot, but not bad depth on the DL. We are pretty deep at Guard and Center. Do not have much depth at OT at all.

Injuries would cause a lot more problems than guys being gassed because heat.

Thanks. In both of our losses (neither of which was played in warm weather), our defense got tired because they were on the field too long. Our offense has to convert first downs and score some points to avoid that happening again on Friday.

Tennessee is fairly southern.
Are you familiar with southern weather?

Heat AND humidity could be an issue, does anyone know if one team will be in the sun while the other is in the shade, could make a huge difference. Really makes a difference if you've been practicing leading up to the game in cooler, non humid conditions.

I think heat and dehydration cramps will be small bit of an issue for both teams. The weather here in the Knoxville area has been warm for the past few weeks, so we are already acclimated to some degree. Our game against Oklahoma was lost in double overtime in blistering heat and suffocating humidity---no one on the Tennessee team pooped out by the 4th quarter or in double OT. That was when our team was not nearly as strong or experienced or conditioned as it is now. I think NU needs to euthanize its "tire them out by the 4th quarter" puppy. It ain't gonna happen---and our line guys are big and strong too. Famous B1G Porkers on the line will not buy you much in the SEC this year, as Michigan State is about to find out tomorrow night. Not trying to be provocative---just sayin'. Yeah, I came back. I'm fickle.

I understand we'll be wearing white. It's said that that's supposed to help, at least a little. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can explain whether there's much to this (or not).

All I know is I was sitting with my back to the sun on a hot day in a White NU Jersey watching Rod Campbell and the Purple letters were burning into me.
