Bartender I'll have what the op's having and make it a double. They maybe not great right now, but I sure as hell don't want to see them in March. And I'm sure I'm not alone
We have struggled against Illinois State, a team with 5 losses. We have beat no one by 25. MSU has three quality wins in Kansas, UL, Providence.

This years team doesn't have that killer instinct yet. I'm looking forward to seeing UK by end of February though. ULs bigs played good D. If Scal and Lee could bang we might get them on any court by 15.

msu is at their ceiling and their interior is pretty bad. lacks size and skill. guards are pretty 1 dimensional. they are winning because they are playing harder than other teams. but as the season goes along and young players get how hard you have to play...that advantage goes away.

Yeah I think they're better than Illinois State at least.

Good point. By the way, what's your best win so far? Probably St. Louis. That's a solid win. Problem is... St. Louis just lost to Morehead State. By double digits. At home.

Maybe you scrubs should schedule some more teams from Power 5 conferences before you're taken seriously. Nice moral victory tonight though. It's right up there with beating St. Louis.

MSU is winning because they are playing harder than other teams?

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Oh man, that's awesome. MSU plays their 4th game in like 6 days and beats #24 Louisville but UK would down us by 25 because hey, MSU tries harder than other teams.

You sure you aren't an analyst for ESPN? That you Skip?

Maybe not by 25, but yes. UK would win. We already beat #7 Duke by double digits. MSU struggled against a barely ranked UL team.

We made Duke look like a HS team.
With a healthy Ulis and Co. we are the best team in all the land.
That #1 by Kentucky.....its there for a reason.

Until we start putting these teams away we're currently playing, i'm not ready to say we would beat the Spartans by 25. These Spartans won't even look the same when March Madness comes around. They will be a final four type of team like they always are with Izzo coaching them! These Spartans are the type of team that can beat anybody on any night, but also the type of team that could lose to any mid major throughout the year as well. Even if they lose to nobody, when it comes to the tourney, it really means nothing and it's a totally new game! Valentine is a real talent and with that type of talent on their roster, they can beat any team in the country. He is also the most fun player to watch so far this year besides Ben Simmons at Lsu! When you have a kid that is capable of getting a trip double any game he plays, it's fun to watch!

I think we are a better team and would beat them, but I don't see us blowing them out.

Their guards are skilled, and while their bigs don't score much, they do rebound and play D.

Cats by 6 or 7.

Dumbest thread I have seen. We have struggled against crap teams and beat only one team so far by 25.
really, you guys are pretty slow you have to be to not comprehend the true message in my post. I think one of the first posters got close. damn.

The way Mich St turned the ball over in the first half makes me think we would win by 10-15 points. They were only down 3 at half but against us if they had that many, we woulda had a 12 point lead. Give this Kentucky team the ball and they kill you.

I don't usually agree with what you say but this post is dead on. MSU is good right now because they play really hard but there are only 2 guys that you have to worry about guarding. The rest don't want to shoot.
Now don't get me wrong , they are going to be in the hunt for a FF, they'll be solid all year but you're right, they are at their ceiling.

However, there is no way we would beat them by 25, maybe 5 but that would be a battle.

I don't get what's so funny.
First off, Boston (the guy you quoted) said nothing about UK beating MSU by 25. That was someone else.
Fact is MSU plays hard, they have 2 reliable scorers so they have to play hard to win. But you're fooling yourself if you think MSU has a ceiling anywhere near as high as UK. Right now MSU is able to win games while hiding guys that really aren't that good. If you watched the game tonight you definitely noticed most guys not named Valentine or Forbes were afraid to shoot. If you shut Valentine down you beat MSU. It's that simple. I don't see anyone on State's squad Beyond Valentine that can be a go to scorer, do you?

MSU is a legit team. Anyone with any common sense can see how hard they play, and if Valentine is going nuts there isn't much anyone could do about it. UK is the better team overall, and will improve more from now until March. If we played MSU this week, it would be a hell of a game. I can't see it being a blowout at all.

MSU, Kansas, UNC, and Maryland could all beat us. "Could" not "would"

I laughed because we are at the tail end of a 4 game crunch and were exhausted. It's a huge reason why Louisville jumped out to an early lead. They came out with far more energy.

IMO, we are a much better team than Louisville and put it together for maybe 10 minutes of gameplay to take over the game.

The best part of this MSU team is the fact that numerous guys can step up. Izzo has a lot to work with even with Schilling injured.

I've also never heard of playing hard as some sort of quasi negative used to downgrade a team. Hilarious. Oh you won? Well, well, uh, you just play hard!! So there!

Good times.

First off, UL is not a top 25 team. Have no idea why ESPN has them in the top 25. The fact you all beat them after playing 4 games in 6 days kinda proves that theory. On a normal schedule you guys probably beat them by 15 or so.

I won't say we would beat the Spartans by 25, but i do believe we would win the game. Valentine would be a hard guy for us to guard, but i do believe Poythress would be the best guy to throw at him and would slow him down some. If Izzo thought UL has some great guards, just wait until he gets to coach against Ulis, Murray and Briscoe. I know Izzo knows how valuable Tyler Ulis is. He did recruit and wanted that kid bad for the Spartans.

No great teams out there yet, imo.

UK is very good. Sparty is very good but was tired tonight from that insane scheduling. Kansas is very good.

UNC with Paige back is very good, but also their entire roster is most likely illiterate.

Duke and Maryland are good, bordering on very good.

I'd say Louisville is good, along with a dozen other teams.

Nobody is scary.

Neutral Court,
Without Ulis, Sparty wins by 5-10.

With Ulis, we beat them by 5-10.

He's that important.
Ulis is the most important single player in CBB this year. Adding him alone to most rosters would turn most NIT teams into lock NCAA teams or bump a tourney team's seed up 4 lines or so, because he makes everyone better and is an extension of the coach.
His decision making is at the level of a very good NBA point guard, and he's playing against a bunch of 20 year olds who can't keep up.
