Yep it was him on both... both BS calls, especially # 2, #1 could have been handled with just a talking to with both players

He was particularly bad tonight. I think he gets overwhelmed at times with the speed and intensity of big games. He also wears his feelings on his sleeve and, when a coach gets on him for missing a call, he will call against that coach's team. He was really bad for a good portion of the early second half. He was NOT going to call a foul under our basket against Ole Miss, and he never did. The best thing that happened for UK was when he switched to the other end with about 8 or 9 minutes left in the game. The other official, not sure of his name (which means he's probably pretty good at his job), was calling it right.
My experience with Shows is that he gets overwhelmed and doesn't see calls clearly, but he just makes an emphatic call anyway. He let himself get sucked into the atmosphere tonight and also got mad at Calipari, which led to more bad calls.
I don't think he's corrupt, per se, but just incompetent.
You have to admit that the worst calls against us and no calls were because of shows though. He’s just bad. Maybe not the worst but that doesn’t mean he’s any good. You obviously don’t read my posts very often.
I ***** and moan about officiating as much as anyone.
However, I can list at least 10 officials that are far worse to us than Shows is.
You need to pay attention and not pick and choose what to try and call me out on. It’s not going to work with me.
Again, some of you need to pay attention to ALL the calls in the game.
Shows gave us a more favorable whistle by far than the other two refs did. Cal was bitching at Shows because;
1. He was the lead Ref last night.
2. Shows was positioned next to him most of the game.
Pay attention and quit making things up.
Thanks....have a good day...Bye Bye.
its amazing watching the game. He obviously had money (in some way) against the cats at 5.5.
He was going to make sure we won by less than 6 regardless of what happened.
Hero calls from the top of the key when the play is in the paint.
Overruling calls from 30 feet away.
Even putting in a coaches box warning on Cal as a backup plan.
Can we please start analyzing refs finances and start holding them accountable?

You may be right Fox2monk, but I think it's more incompetence and insecurity than corruption. Shows gets his feelings hurt and then makes one-sided calls to get back at the coach he's mad at. I think that's what happened last night, especially early in the 2nd half. He’s definitely one of the refs who bets on games. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit honestly.

As for those here who seem to think there were no bad calls last night, I have to wonder what you were watching. Calipari will usually talk to officials and lobby for calls in most games, but you rarely see him get as upset as he did last night. He had legit complaints. There was a stretch to start the second half where they just weren't calling fouls under UK's basket. Doug Shows was the guilty party about 80% of the time. He just wasn't going to blow his whistle- most of Ole Miss' fouls happened on their offensive end of the floor early in the second half, as they were going for offensive rebounds and trying to get steals. Shows wouldn't call any on their defensive end under the goal. There were several no calls that resulted in no points or free throws and several more on what should have been and-ones. They were being called on the other end. I read Calipari's lips several times and he was saying "call it down there" referring to UK's end of the floor. UK players were trying to not make ANY contact but Ole Miss players were playing rugby. You don't have to be a UK fan to see it, either.

I agree, he's not the best, that's for sure. Its a shame that politics determine who gets these big officiating jobs. I completely agree that the system needs revamped but to blame it on him betting the game like the OP has done, is ridiculous. After the whole NBA official scandal years ago, they are watched heavily.
Yeah pro sports are but since betting has went legal now the NCAA has no such committee. It was right on the line so no sportsbook would be mad.

Fair or favorable whistle from Doug Shows... LOL! You've made a lot of clueless posts but this one takes the cake.Totally disagree. You guys focus on the calls he makes against us, but overlook the ones he calls in our favor.
Overall, we got at least a fair, if not favorable whistle last night from him.
I think you’re basing this on Cal hollering at him numerous times during the game, but most of those times were calls made/not made by the other two refs, but Shows is closest to Cal, so that’s who he’s hollering at.
Overall, the officiating was fine for a road game.
The biggest problem is all of the switching on defense kept leaving Ole Miss with good looks, and until late in the game, they made them.
I would rather have Shows every game over Teddy, Pat Adams, Tony Greene, Mike Eades, Joe Lindsey, and Doug Sirmons.
CNow that is funny! [roll][roll]
Or we just play defense like Tennessee. We played defense great for a play here and there but not consistently like tenn. Tenn wanted it more. Which is a worrisome trend that has been happening more frequently lately. I’m not sure why this team doesn’t have that will to win like Tennessee.its amazing watching the game. Come on. UT executed like a championship team down the stretch. We did not. It’s as simple as that. Give the Vols their due respect.
