its amazing watching the game. He obviously had money (in some way) against the cats at 5.5.

He was going to make sure we won by less than 6 regardless of what happened.

Hero calls from the top of the key when the play is in the paint.

Overruling calls from 30 feet away.

Even putting in a coaches box warning on Cal as a backup plan.

Can we please start analyzing refs finances and start holding them accountable?

Id lump his sorry *** in with the Rooferee and ban him from doing UK games.

He was particularly bad tonight. I think he gets overwhelmed at times with the speed and intensity of big games. He also wears his feelings on his sleeve and, when a coach gets on him for missing a call, he will call against that coach's team. He was really bad for a good portion of the early second half. He was NOT going to call a foul under our basket against Ole Miss, and he never did. The best thing that happened for UK was when he switched to the other end with about 8 or 9 minutes left in the game. The other official, not sure of his name (which means he's probably pretty good at his job), was calling it right.

My experience with Shows is that he gets overwhelmed and doesn't see calls clearly, but he just makes an emphatic call anyway. He let himself get sucked into the atmosphere tonight and also got mad at Calipari, which led to more bad calls.

I don't think he's corrupt, per se, but just incompetent.

Was he the one that called the double foul and 2nd foul on PJ Washington? Look like he called the 2nd one.

Shows is a bad ref....one thing in particular is his unmatched passion to call off the ball fouls at a champions pace. He loves some moving screen action but then fails to call zilch on contact driving the ball to the rim.

Keldon in particular had high levels of impacts on his drives and quite a few were non calls....but Ole Miss was hitting the line first half due to plethora on off ball fouls that put them in bonus real fast.

Totally disagree. You guys focus on the calls he makes against us, but overlook the ones he calls in our favor.

Overall, we got at least a fair, if not favorable whistle last night from him.

I think you’re basing this on Cal hollering at him numerous times during the game, but most of those times were calls made/not made by the other two refs, but Shows is closest to Cal, so that’s who he’s hollering at.

Overall, the officiating was fine for a road game.

The biggest problem is all of the switching on defense kept leaving Ole Miss with good looks, and until late in the game, they made them.

I would rather have Shows every game over Teddy, Pat Adams, Tony Greene, Mike Eades, Joe Lindsey, and Doug Sirmons.

Only issue I had with the refs was the hook on KJ. Yes he did it, but every OM player pushed off on offense the entire game. You let that slide then called the hook on KJ? Cal was right to let them have it. They called I think to pushes on OM afterwards.

Their guards used their off hand to push more than any other team I can remember this year.

I am certain he was on the baseline when the dude essentially tackled and wrapped his arms around PJ in the post. Dykes and Ravech both clearly saw it from 35 feet away but Shows just swallowed his whistle...

Don't even know if it was him on the baseline, but for arguments sake, I am gonna say it was to pile on.

With Travis, out, 2 early calls on PJ is easy money. We've seen it 2 games in a row now. Would love to see one of these refs retire and write a book like Donaghy did.

People like @kev69 and @KyFaninNC probably are happy with the level of accountability for refs and believe we should automatically trust that all refs are basically infallible saints that are totally above reproach.

I mean God forbid someone points out that a ref sucks, or is biased, or *gasp* may just be corrupt as hell.

They probably also would’ve defended Tim Donaghy forever.

I have to respectfully disagree...the first poster is right that he was under the basketball while we were on offense in the 2nd half and PJ kept getting fouled culminating in the play where his arm was pinned down and Dykes started freaking out about the no foul call. He flat out refused to call fouls against Ole Miss for almost the entire 2nd half.

You obviously don’t read my posts very often.
I ***** and moan about officiating as much as anyone.

However, I can list at least 10 officials that are far worse to us than Shows is.

You need to pay attention and not pick and choose what to try and call me out on. It’s not going to work with me.

Again, some of you need to pay attention to ALL the calls in the game.

Shows gave us a more favorable whistle by far than the other two refs did. Cal was bitching at Shows because;

1. He was the lead Ref last night.

2. Shows was positioned next to him most of the game.

Pay attention and quit making things up.

Thanks....have a good day...Bye Bye.

Take off your tin foil hat. Refs miss calls all the time. Honestly not sure how we win any games since all the refs are out to get us.

Did I say all the refs are out to get us?

No, I said refs are frequently terrible, oftentimes biased (for different reasons) and occasionally totally corrupt.

I also said they have absolutely no accountability. I would even say it’s anti-accountability, since no one is allowed to say anything about them—if a coach does, he gets fined, if a player does, he gets suspended, and if a person on a message board does, they get a trove of people who act like it’s a conspiracy theory.

Don’t forget waiting until Tyler almost has the ball, then stopping everything to tell him to tuck his jersey in, lol. Doug trying to ice him. Or how Doug looked like he was practicing his swimming stroke when he called the hook on Keldon.

Then the coaches’ box warning on Cal after swallowing the whistle on PJ being put in a bear hug. Nothing worse than when a ref misses a call, and then T’s up or warns the coach to compound their stupidity. If you can’t take a ref showing you up for blatantly missing a call, then get better. As long as the coach isn’t in your face, throwing his jacket, and/or on the middle of the court, let them rip you a new one.

Hell will freeze over before refs have to face any accountability. College or pro.

How bout that loss you guaranteed last night?
Guaranteed a loss? I said I bet we lose without Travis and the game was decided in the final seconds. I think it’s safe to say I had plenty of reason for concern.

I love how you asshats think saying something that doesn’t involve “Kentucky is always the best” means you’re a hater.

We have very specific flaws without Reid Travis on the floor and after two terrible performances in a row I had a feeling it was going to bite us again last night which I think everyone here would agree that it almost did.

You really showed me let me tell ya..

I wish someone would analyze games and calls made like they did with the NBA ref a few years back to show corruption. I’m not a fan of Shows but there are definitely worse out there. There’s a few that I would bet money on (shows being one) that calls more against us than calls that go our way. I’d even bet the roofer is around 75-80% calls that go against us. But with what we were up against and for what we had riding on it, namely a 1 vs 2 seed, I really expected worse from Shows last night.

We played really well offensively last night and played a pretty good game overall based on the circumstances I would say. (No RT and PJ foul trouble). Had we lost in the final seconds of the game it would have had nothing to do with UK’s performances against Ark and UT.

Usually agree with you but i was watching the game with a UK hater and his exact words were " that guy up top couldn't tell you his own definition of a foul". Consistency is key and Shows had the quick trigger on one end all night. All noticeably bad calls were his doing on our end at least as i could tell. Couldn't remember one time i thought one of the other 2 blew a call that was blatant like Dougie Shucks
