1. They will not give us 5 turnovers.
2. Our OL is banged up.
3. Our young secondary looks good, but they are not "beat Alabama" good.
4. Aeris Williams is our only running threat outside of Dak. He will get little playtime and #2 above is going highlight our lack of running game against their front 7.
5. Our front 7 is OKAY. They have flashes of greatness and then they also give up rushing touchdowns to bad offenses. With that said, I expect Manny's schemes (and our passing game) to keep us in the game until late.

Flame the **** outta me, but tell me how we win.

I think we definitely beat OM at home at this point and Arkansas is a toss up leaning their way, but still very beatable.

Hate to say it but I agree. I'm a realist and I'm watching this bama game. One of the better teams they've had in a long time. Much better than last year I believe. I think we will move the ball some in the air but I simply don't see us stopping Travis Henry.

5 is bad, really bad. Every time he lines up on bear, Dak will throw it to him

To win we must not call a run play the entire game, save designed runs for Dak in limited situations. Have him chuck the ball up where our best WR corps in a generation can catch the ball. If Dak throws 50 times, we might actually win. If our RBs have more than 10 carries between all of them, we lose.

Would love to have swapped them with aTm as far as when we played. Man.

Or Derrick Henry. Our chance is that we aren't going to try to run seriously other than Dak on breakdowns and designed runs where we know we have a blocking advantage. I'm not convinced UAT's short secondary can deal with Dak's improvement this year and our tall physical receivers. UAT is coming off an intense game and may be off a bit. We have a couple extra days. They have better talent, but this is not the 7-0 team that got blasted or the #1 team that had a big target on their backs. I think this is a close game and I'm glad it's at home.

If they play like they did against UT two weeks ago

Flame the **** outta me, but tell me how we win.

we have a good shot. If they play like they did tonight we don't.

Every good team is susceptible to a bad game. I hope they have a hangover from this next week

How many first quarter points do we spot them?
If it's just 7...okay.
If it's 10 or more...looks like I picked a hell of a week to stop sniffing glue.

I'm as optimistic as anyone on the board, but I'm having a hard time seeing a W, but I thought OM would roll Arky too.... I also thought Michigan St would beat Nebraska easily...I also thought TCU would win today....I thought Memphis would beat Navy at home....I thought Florida would roll Vandy....I thought TAMU would beat Aubie at home.

You just never know.

If Dan can get the team up like he did in his first year against TSUN, and if Bama is on any letdown after this game, then there will be a shot. Also Dan must be able to find some sort of wrinkle that hasn't been used so far this season. A full house will also help. But if the team remains one-dimensional with Dak being the only running game, then their defense will be able to key on Dak like they did tonight on Fournette. Defensively, with the sluggish way we have been taking the first half to get the defense in gear the second half may be too little too late. The only light in the tunnel that I see is how wacky this weekend was with Auburn-A&M, Navy-Memphis and TSUN-Arky.

If we can force them into long yardage on second and third down.
If we can give Dak ANY time to throw something other tha WR screens
Biggest IF we can hold Henry under 18 rushes and 100 yards

we have a chance.

The he biggest intangible is the mental state of our team after the tragedy this weekend which go either way.

I won't be surprised if we're down 21-0 after their first three possessions...

Like we were a couple of years ago. I don't think we have a shot in hell of beating them.

We can definitely win the game.
Our best chance is to throw the running game out the window and let our 5th-year Heisman contender throw it all over the field.
Hold them to field goals. They can't beat us kicking field goals.
They will have a huge LSU hangover. They will expect the same pathetic team that rolled into Bryant-Denny last year and melted under the bright lights of a big game. We can't be that team. We've got to prove that we've matured and grown as a program.
We have to win this football game. Have to.

Sutterkane...go back and watch the UT game and watch UT/USC....there's your answer. And I think home field is worth at least 2 pts.

Sounds like 1996. We were something like 3-5 & they were ranked #8. I got drunk before the game with some scalpers to ease the pain & enjoy the game. WTF? We won? Could happen, but no doubt they have the better team.

Our defense is the key to this game. We have got to stop the run, that means man on the corners. We have got to control the line of scrimmage and get negative plays. I think our offense will score as long as we throw the ball. But if they get to running then the play action will kill us. AJ, I'm looking at you big guy. Show the f@ck out. Go get that money.

Playing with house money Saturday.

True. Just go out there and throw the kitchen sink at them. No reason to be uptight as there will be no one picking us. Even with a loss here, still have a decent chance at a 9-3 record.

For me, I can't wait till Saturday. The crowd will be rocking, we may not win, but if our coaches and team has the attitude some of you guys have then we shouldn't play the game. For most who say we don't have a chance then don't go to the game, you will be even more miserable!

The atmosphere should be awesome, it may or may not last but the challenge is there to step up or like Shaq says "Man Up"! Football players should want to play in a game like this as do coaches.

I think we have to play our best game and Bama not play there best, but it can happen, ask OM or Tn when they played Bama.

Who is the sixpack version of the insufferable horse's ***, Bruiser? ........................................................

Perhaps our "bruiser" can get on here and wax eloquently about why we get to play these MFers 10 games deep into the 17n season every year after they've rounded into form and are clicking on all 12 cylinders. Especially their OL.

Disagree with almost everything. If State loses, it will be because of Derrick Henry. Period.

Well the good news is this team loves to surprise you because you've yet to pick us in an SEC matchup this year.

Enjoyed the hell out of that. Thanks. Seems like yesterday (for an oldster like me).

Mee toon! Still one of my favorite memories. I had a great tailgate and lots of bourbon combined with a mouthy, toothless Bammer in our home section.

Gave the cowbell I had to a lineman and someone took a pic of him ringing it that made the yearbook.

All that said, the way to beat Alabama this year is to run your QB and throw the ball. It's exactly what we have. If Dak has any time to throw the ball, we will score points. Whether or not we can slow their run game will be the key on defense, and based on how Missouri was able to run the ball, it's not looking good.

I do love being wrong

And I'd love to be wrong three more times this season because I don't think we win any of the last three.
