What Big-12? After Texas and OU bolts, there probably won’t be a Big-12.

The money is in the BIG-10 and the University is not going to give that up. So…no!

We aren't going to make it back to prominence with Michigan/OSU/PSU/Wisc in the way. We could run things in the midwest like old times and Baylor is bound to end up a powerhouse.

Get back to a culture of LOS and stopping the run and rushing the ball and this program will jump right up there with PSU, WI, IA, etc.

MI won the conference title last year because they were the best in the conference at the LOS and had a running culture. Go back to Rich Rod days when it was all horizontal **** like Frost and it failed.

Stop thinking of being 'prominent" again. Settle for trying to get to "relevant" at this point.

At least Rich Rod had winning seasons at Michigan.

Depends on what your definition of relevant is. Does winning our division make us relevant, or does winning our conference make us relevant? What number of wins and losses does it take for us to be relevant again?

For starters, winning more games than losing and making a bowl game. Get there first before anything else.

This. Rebuild with the Kansas State approach and then rest will take care of itself.

Don't schedule the toughest P5 programs out there until the program is rebuilt into a winner. And for gods sake, none of this stupid *** hit of flying 16 hours to play a game and then play again a few days later.

In ten years when it's only the B1G and SEC you might be glad you got out of there a decade ago. Seriously who thinks the ACC and Big 12 aren't next to be dissolved? Oregon is looking to join, the Pac 12 is going the way of the Big East. Power Six will soon be Power 4. The Big 12 just lost their two big brands last year. West Virginia, Cincy, UCF, Houston, BYU will be prime targets to pick off. The ACC couldn't keep Maryland, Clemson and FSU will be SEC targets. North Carolina, Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech could be B1G targets. You really think the B1G isn't gonna want a southeast presence? The SEC will want into the Midwest and West.

It's gonna be like the NFL. The B1G will be the AFC, and the SEC will be the NFC. Sure you will say you won't watch anymore, but you probably said that ten years ago, and three years ago, and two years ago. Conference expansion, transfer portal, NIL, Coaching contracts worth 15 million a year. It's all business.

If any idiot fan wants to suggest being a bigger fish in a very small pond (Big 12) is better than struggling right now in the big ocean (Big 10) then they are foolish.

It's the nostalgic effect. It's just like how we all wish we could go back to our childhoods. We remember the good ole days. People remember the days of Nebraska being a power. Winning with the option, wishbone, walkon program, weight lifting advantages. The days where Kansas State, Iowa State were walkovers. Heisman winners like Eric Crouch.

Facts are the downfall began long before 2011. I think it began the day Colorado dismantled Nebraska in Boulder. Then Miami took that option attack apart in the National Title game. The mystique was smashed. The bullies got punched. Solich wasn't going to win a title. Then you hired a west coast NFL mind, he recruited well because of his NFL pedigree and the brand still being strong. But Nebraska officially lost it's identity that day. It's never gonna be the way it was, the option attack will never be a viable offense for title contention. There will never be another Big 8 from the same region. Recruiting isn't even regional anymore. Florida, Texas, California are all getting picked apart from schools like Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson. It's not about what it was. Kids have smart phones, social media, access to streaming services where all forms of entertainment are available. You can live in New York and stream a game in Hawaii. The 90's are never coming back.

You can visit it by watching old videos. But you can't ever live back there again. Move on.

Just another example in an ever growing list of how pathetic everything related to Nebraska football has become.

Nebraska’s struggles have nothing to do with the bigten. I’ve always hated the bigten and it’s DBag fans of the little 8 who always ride the coattails of tOSU and Michigan. That said, it was a good move for the financial viability of the program.

The Big Ten is perfect for Nebraska. Culturally, the upper midwest/great lakes states match Nebraska culturally better than Texas ever did. The power running game is strong compared to the "basketball on grass" Big XII. Plus, you know, that whole "Big XII won't exist after Texas and Oklahoma leave" problem.

Nebraska bailed on the Big XII because it couldn't compete. Now fans are wondering if it isn't time to run away again? By that rationale, maybe Nebraska should move down to FCS and be content being the bully of the kindergarten playground.

Nebraska only has itself to blame. A lot of arrogant people have been making bad decisions for a long time. Solich was an unqualified buddy hire. Callahan was a ridiculous desperation hire. Pelini was qualified but a ticking time bomb. Riley was just plain WTF hire. Frost had one good year at a mid-major but hadn't remotely proven he could wear big-boy pants. Everything that made Nebraska special (power/option offense, attacking defense) was thrown out by successive coaches. Now 20 years later, you have to tell recruits to ask their grandfathers what Nebraska used to be like. We can't fine ONE offensive lineman who can dominate. In my worst nightmares I never thought we would see a day when that was possible.

I'd rather be in the Big12 and win 8-9 games a year than stay in the B1G and win 4-5 games a year. I miss going to bowl games.

I think more people than you think are gradually checking out to some degree with all the "Big Business" changes to college football. I can tell you that at least 95% of the free tickets I've been offered to Nebraska football games happened after we moved to the Big 10. I now only watch Nebraska on TV only - I quit going to games at Memorial Stadium a couple of years after the move to the B1G - I just was not willing to blow an entire Saturday and go through all that expense and discomfort to watch us play teams I frankly couldn't GAF about.

When we were winning 9 or 10 games a season during the Solich and Pelini years, we were still considered irrelevant by many.

Or Nebraska could just hire the best damn HC they possibly can and go win games in the Big Ten.
Hiring the best damn coach is just an educated guess. Its like electing a politician and thinking they will represent the voters or hiring a CEO and expecting wonders. Barry Switzer once said, "its not about the X's and O's but rather the Jimmys and Joes". We do not have enough good Jimmys and Joes. Get good O linemen and good D linemen and the rest will be solved. That being said, pretty hard to get them when one does not win ball games. Seems like very few great linemen come from Nebraska and Iowa anymore but somehow Iowas makes it work. Tough situation we find ourselves in.

Nebraska fans thinking Urban Meyer would be an option to come to Lincoln are as delusional as Tennessee fans a few years back thinking Jon Gruden was their best option.

Accept that urban isn't coming to Lincoln and accept the fact Nebraska is a developmental program...just as Benning said recently it was. Times have changed. Understand this.

Trev: Hey Urban how'd you like to be our next head coach?
Urban: No

As Nebraska fans we can agree that it sucks to lose, but at least the husker program isn’t bogged down by racist coaches.

Agree with a lot of what you say.

However, the SEC does not want into the west.

SEC wants to maintain geographic relevance. North Carolina, Virginia, Florida State, Clemson will be the next four to join the SEC.

ESPN will have to work with the SEC to find a home for all ACC schools to get around the GOR.
